Lu Yuxiao really knew how to choose a drama script, and in fact, her recent works were mostly highly rated. This is another brilliant drama to watch where she’s the lead female. Love all the sisters in this drama! Have a good laugh from the start!
Agree! The profile photos here were not great, and mostly low quality. It could be MDL server couldn't handle a big file, high resolution profile photo. Also, MDL admins are not good at choosing a good profile photo. They apparently approved only the actresses/actors' boring passport-style photo! LYX def didn't naturally look like her here. I should think twice before paying for a VIP membership here. I don't think it’s worth it, and no different from just being a member.
I read comments here, and also when I rewatched it on Viki with comments on. Imo, Ming Yi is one of the best Xianxia complex characters I’ve ever watched and portrayed fantastically well by Lu Yu Xiao. If you notice, her eyes changed from the sharp warrior eye to the soft, gentle, adorable woman eye that every man would die to protect; it’s proof of her superb micro-expression acting. Some questioned why too many lies and why Ming Yi did what she did to survive, and some audience hate and found the female character annoying esp for what she did in Ep 23. Why didn't she ask for the antidote instead of stealing it? Ji Bozai also schemed and lied tho once tried to sacrifice himself and pushed Ming Yi away for the reason of protecting her, yet no one got annoyed when the male lied? 🤔 Tbh, all lies actually made sense to me as they’re young, white lies for all their good reasons. In fact, the plot and characters are far from simple. There is more to reveal in the end if we are a patient audience. But both characters were pure despite all the lies; the love was always there. Ming Yi fell in love sincerely and respected Ji Bozai’s promise to his master not to let others use the golden millet dream. Plus, back to the character, she’s been a strong prince, warrior God(dess), for more than 20 years, who had her pride and was suddenly forced to lie and must have hidden her identity to survive. It’s clearly not easy to trust anyone, even though Ji Bozai changed her heart. She’d rather gamble her life to find the answer in a hard way to solve her problem, and at the same time not to force Ji Bozai to betray his master. When they first made love, Ji Bozai thought that moment would be forever, but Ming Yi thought that would be her last, followed by the heartbreaking scene of her losing her cat has made episode 23 one of the best eps, along with episode 19, the torture and Ming Yi’s confession bath scene. Another best scene is also Ji Bozai's confession on ep 36, reminding us that they’re just a young loving couple who would love to be themselves, taking their warrior mask off when they’re alone. I can not stop praising this series for making me appreciate the Xianxia genre or fantasy drama after all.
I just hoped Zhou Ye could be more believable as a prominent female general and emotionally expressive with Cheng Lei! Tbh, I mainly watched it for Cheng Lei, as his acting with Lu Yuxiao in My Journey to You was insane, which I initially hoped I’d see it again here. Though, It was my wishful thinking, overall is a very good drama.
Xianxia has been the least C-drama I’d watch, unless it’s highly rated. After finished watching LITC, I genuinely say that it is a surprised Xianxia masterpiece for me! It’s captivating drama when you invest your time and keep watching until then end. It’s a slow burn but all tighten up beautifully in the end. Complex plot and characters, acting and chemistry, all were superb as many did say. Imo, Lu yuxiao acting as Ming Yi deserves an award for best new actress acting! Two contrast, intimate and torture/heart breaking scenes acting, in the one same episode of episode 19 and 23 were exceptionally breathtaking! This girl can go a long way in the future.
i love love this series mainly because of the leads. they designed the fl's character right. she is far from perfect…
I’ve finished it not a while ago. It’s a masterpiece modern C-drama with the best natural acting and chemistry, by far! I like how you highlighted the part that the main characters here were just like us, ordinary human, who could never be perfect! But the aspiration and all the romance here were very mature and sensible to understand and enjoy, it’s remarkable somehow. I am into rewatching this as watching LBL is kinda my happy place now. The lead couple’s smiles and natural micro-expression comedic in this drama are addictive! Even without any dialogue, LYX and CXX’s hands and eyes said it all.
https://vm.tiktok.com/ZNRxmm5aE/I’ve spotted in one of Lu Yuxiao's youth photos that she’s actually here in…
Now, I am entering the fandom because of her! I love her because she's just like the girl next door who has a hidden superpower. I am falling in love with Ming Yi now.
Lu Yuxiao is a very good actress and she has many good dramas like love in the clouds and love between lines.…
Wow thank you. I really love watching her dramas also at the moment and really looking forward to her last upcoming drama too. She's a very special C-actress at least for me. Currently watching LITC, Shangguan Qian and Hu Xiu character are still in head and now she’s giving Ming Yi character that will be lingered for a very long time. God helps me!
I haven't finished watching, but I could understand the high rating and why it won 4 golden apples in the recent TV drama Quality Award. It’s a beautiful cinematography philosophy drama. I love how natural the acting and the chemistry of the main couple are. It’s like seeing a real-life couple who are in love deeply but sensibly. Also kinda brilliant to use VR games as a happy place for the characters in this drama, to show that life can be unbearable for us humans; some of us just need this happy place to escape and enjoy being someone else sometimes. Somehow true that it could mean a lot to be able to just be happy and forget the pain we have sometimes, even for a short moment of thrill. It’s very smart. This is what made this drama special and different from other business C-dramas. In LBL, the everyday story and ordinary characters here magically have become extraordinary with all emotional performance, beautiful visuals, and fantastic music combined. I watched LYX unique expressive acting with CL in MJTY not long ago. I was impressed, and I think she did it again with CXX here. Watching LBL made me happy and sad, as the story goes.
I first watched Cheng Le in My Journey to You. His intense acting with Lu Yuxiao has gotten me. Both were kinda new actors to me, never really heard them before. But the way they overshadowed the first lead in MJTY has left a deep impression. His acting was really good there. I hope I can see another good one in this drama. I only started watching Legend of Female General, but it looks like I won't be disappointed 🤞
I just joined MDL, have been watching many good high rated drama, but stopped a while ago as too busy. Back now, and friends recommended My Journey to You. It’s a brilliant play. But I was paying more attention to the second lead actors whom I’ve never known before, and watched them for the first time here. Shangguan Qian and Gong Shang Jue characters are more vivid for me, and were able to draw so much emotion despite not having much dialogue and scenes. But their eyes and body language have said enough. Especially Lu Yuxiao, she's genuinely a humdinger. Just wondering whether she only acts well in MJTY, or actually has other dramas in which her acting is as great as in this one? Just starting with Love between Lines also as rating seems good 🤞
I just joined MDL, though I have enjoyed watching quite a few great high-rated dramas when I had free time. Some friends have recommended this drama to me. Though I haven't finished watching, they didn’t lie, saying it’s a dark but intriguing drama. Stunning cinematography, though not much, the fighting scenes were brilliant. First time, Esther Yu was surprisingly different and good here, as I normally one of people who avoided watching her dramas. Thus, I didn't think this drama existed. But most of all, I was paying more attention to the second lead actors whom I’ve never known before and first time watched them here. Shangguan Qian and Gong Shang Jue characters are more vivid for me, and were able to draw so much emotion despite not having much dialogue and scenes like Yu Wei Shan and Gong Zi Yu. But their eyes and body language have said enough. Just wondering whether the second leads, Lu Yuxiao and Cheng Lei, only act well here, or they actually have other dramas in which their acting is as great as this? Especially Shangguan, she's genuinely a humdinger.

What a contrast! I want that peacock! 😂
