While Non-Con is criticized here, it's indeed very common in all sorts of East Asian novels and comics. Who doesn't know the scenario of the drugged woman in about 90% of Chinese Josei Novels? Still, this sort of plot is usually not adapted in the dramas, and it's similar with the majority of BL dramas - they cut these parts or adjust them. In fact, it's similar with modern BL comics, even in case of Omegaverse. Things change. Nowadays, there are tons of cute and consensual Omegaverse stories out there. For myself, fiction remains fiction and isn't something I'd idealize in a RL scenario. But of course it's understandable if you don't want to read "everything" or feel triggered by it for one reason or another. I respect that completely.
Just like Josei Omegaverse is about rather conservative values. Like a "traditional family". I don't value these for myself, but I like to read about those in fictions. Furthermore, I don't think I read many Omegaverse stories focussing on removing the gland. In fact, I can barely remember this topic. It's a fact that Omegas are treated badly in most stories, but if we take a look at reality, women are not that far from this either in quite a lot of countries. Still. The authors are usually women, too. So they may somewhat portrait their own situation?!
Usually, this sort of treatment along with "idolizing Alphas" isn't really encouraged by the authors. The protagonists often challenge these things in one way or another. For example, by being successful in their careers.
Certainly, Omegaverse is based on having humans with some sort of "animal traits". In some cases, it's even about having ears or tails. And it's a genre associated a lot with werewolves. I suppose, that's part of its fascination, as there's some sort of "raw passion". However, it's understandable that not everyone loves this.
Still, I think it's too simple to generalize a whole genre like that. Just like the BL genre, things are changing constantly. If we take a look at popular, older BL comics non-con was still treated as a natural occurrence, but this changed over the years as mentioned previously. Adapted as a drama, this is likely rather mild, I mean it's not rated M either. Just decide after watching it :)

Forgot to mention these: Heat/Rut: What's heat for Omegas is often called rut for Alphas Presenting: That's when you're either tested or "show" your secondary gender, often during childhood Bond: sometimes, there's a "soulmate concept", so a certain Alpha and Omega are destined for each other, sometimes it's just about a permanent mark which binds them together permanently (unless it can be dissolved)
But in general, every author designs their own Omegaverse. It's common to have different "laws" in the different universes, and that's the case here as well with the "Enigma" gender (which is unheard of elsewhere). If you go for manga, manhwa or manhua you'll see very different things ranging from pregnant alphas to alpha - beta romances. Same goes for the hierarchy. Usually, alphas are "at the top" and omegas are either treated badly or valued very much (not much in between). However, it's usually the case that betas represent "common humans".
Funnily, Omegaverse found its way from western fan fictions to the East Asian comic and novel market. It's pretty interesting.
