no one said he is a genius... he is smart yeah, he knows how to play with his words , and trick others, which…
You CANNOT argue facts with these people, they'll argue you down. They'll all fail to see that the drama gave us this image and idea about the male lead being exceptional and then when it came to deliverying as such it was lackluster and dry.

Title Legend of Zang Hai Spoiler
If it's not type, find another drama. For revenge lovers, we are very pleased. Go somewhere else with your disgusting…
The male lead in NIrvana in fire didn't know martial arts either but the drama serve. the revenge plot was very much giving even though it also had force romance like she said. I agree with her complete on this one. It was quite a disappointment through and through. If you take into account how and why his entire family dies then this so call revenge is just a slap on the wrist. Apart from the third enemy everyone else were able to choose their own ending. The eunuch was able to benefit from his death, the general was also able to benefit from his death and if we think about it the general actually died exactly the way he wanted to. For forty episode it was very disappointing, even if they wanted the romance plot they should've skillfully built on it instead of introducing it that quickly; yes they flirted a few time but to make it seem they're inseparable lovers/power couple? I don't know about that. Mayve it's because I've seen so many chinese, korean, thai, tai etc dramas but I'm able to see through all the flaws in these new shows. It was all over the place and at the same time it wasn't. Like in the beginning they had me then they lost me after he left the mansion. Furthermore to be the mastermind behind everything Zhoa Bing Wen was way too painfully stupid. There's absolutely no way you spent that much years nurturing this boy for revenge then use the same petty tricks the previous two used. But still I think ONLY his death made the most sense and was the closest to actually getting revenge cause he got killed because of his greed for power while being oblivion to the price you'll nee to pay to acquire/keep such power. None of the other deaths gave you that "feel good, my work here is done feeling" and as i said they didn't have to die either just adequately punished. I thought that was gonna happen by the way he sowed discord between the eunuch and the general but ultimately I was still left disappointed. Not well written at all. In the untamed Ji Li, who played Nie Huai Sang knew how to go about revenge from the shadows they were trying to give that here but failed terribly.

To conclude, for me a revenge drama need to give satisfactory punishments to villians rather than just simply killing them off. stripping the general frim his military duty was a great move having him live through to see himself fall from glory and not having anybody by his side after his wife and son suicide would've been way more painful faith for him rather than dying at the hands of his son on the battle field which has always been how he wanted to go(dying in battle) as for the eunuch he didn't necessarily fall from grace because up until his death he still had his magesty trust, the emperor only learn of his misdeed AND WAS CONVINCE after he was dead and still his death brought fortune to the villian. So yeah nothing abou any of the deaths gave revenge. They did a whole lotta killing but somehow it still remain soft core
