Rui started receiving letters since he started filming 'My journey to you'. People who were following the drama shooting recognized Rui as the artist they saw in theatre plays and started following him from there. They became fans and used to give letters, flowers receive autographs.
Fans thought it is difficult to continue this and asked Rui to stop receiving letters and meeting the fans offline daily but he always grateful for the love he is receiving. He believes it is to be reciprocated in some form. And receiving letters and meeting them after work is his way of saying he is not taking their love for granted.
He is considerate and emotional baby who also says the words fans tells motivates him further, so this tradition is still continuing. Only when he is so busy or the drama production says they can't allow it, then he won't be taking letters or meeting them directly.
