Yeah, I'm the same, I usually wait for the middle of the drama to decide if I like it or not. Let's hope that it stays enjoyable till the end, I have high expectations for it.

Thank you <3 Yes, her father seems to care about her feelings more than her mom. But her mom has the last word and he listens to her, like in the scene where she forbid him to give Shaoshang snacks. Sadly, his support is not enough, I hope that their relationship develops more or that she will find another motherly/fatherly figure in her life.
I totally agree. However, I can't blame her mother for treating her like that. Even though she's strict, I can…
Thank you for your reply <3 I get where you are coming from and I agree that it was important in ancient China that the girl should behave properly. But it doesn't mean that her mother should educate her in a cold way, she could do it in a gentle manner and I think it would be even more effective since Shaoshang would want her mother's approval even more. I believe in gentle education where you don't cause emotional pain while educating rather than the strict education. But maybe it's just my modern way of understanding things. I think that her mom isn't all that bad but she just chose the wrong method to approach her daughter because she expects too much from her too fast. I think that later on she will come to regret choosing this exact method. I totally agree with the point you made about Yangyang, I would be very hurt if my mother acted like that in front of me. Especially when she needs love even more than the average person because she was deprived of it in her childhood. Comparing children is always very hurtful and should be avoided because each child is his own person, no children will be 100% the same. I think that the mom should be proud of her because she has other virtues that Yangyang lacks, for example bravery, a will to stand up for herself. Girls don't have to be gentle or well mannered to be appreciated. But that's just my opinion and you are free to disagree, I respect that :)
It's actually very nice to have a discussion while watching a drama, I never realized that :)
I usually don't comment on dramas, even though I've been watching them for 6 years but I felt like I had to comment on this one. I've watched every genre of C-dramas that are possible but the hardest for me to get into was historical ones. But for some reason, I really love this one. A lot of people were complaining about the slow pace of the plot but I actually love it. In my opinion, knowing the background of the Famale lead helps to understand her better. I love that we get to concentrate on her feelings, to feel her pain, to empathize with her. I feel like it's very important to show her family life because it will be easier for us, as viewers, to understand her later decisions or standpoint on certain things. I love that she isn't your typical damsel in distress and is actually street smart, the harsh treatment of her family and her resilience makes her even more likeable and relatable. My heart aches for her because of the way her mom is treating her. She deserves so much love because she suffered so much since childhood... Usually, I get annoyed when I have to wait longer for romance to start but actually I don't mind it here in this drama. I saw a bit of criticism for Male lead but I actually think that his character was portrayed well. I believe that he will start showing more emotions after interacting with the Female lead. Since he is so closed off and she seems the opposite, I think they will be a great match and will have a nice relationship dynamic. I think that it's nice to have a variety of different characters with their own unique personas. Can't wait for all the new episodes to come, I'm loving it so far. You are free to disagree with me though :)
