Finished in 3 Days and i liked it i didn't know it was a true story..did she have to day so young?
It is not a true story, but it is based on real historical events.
That means the characters did exist and most of the deaths and the year of the death are historical record. We know that 1st Empress died early, the 2nd empress did something or other to cause herself to be shunned (historians speculate that she cut her hair, but it is not known for sure), and Concubine Ling died young as well. Their personalities and everything they do is 100% fictional.
In fact, if you go watch Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace, it has the same characters and some of the same events, but everything is flipped on its head. In that drama, the 1st Empress is a b!tch, 2nd Empress is the FL, Concubine Ling is the evil villain, etc.
The two dramas are basically two different imaginings of how things could have maybe possibly played out in real life. But it's of course not real - we do not know what these people were truly like.

not to mention she was behind her husband's sister's death, and she drove a maid he got even SLIGHTLY close to into seeking death as well, and she manipulated his brother (who is likely the real father of the son - she only used the emperor as guaranteed protection since harming an imperial heir would be against Fu Heng's moral code + the emperor would take action since he believed he was the father) UGH she is so vicious, yet somehow she can't grasp why her husband will never love her or have anything to do with her, you stupid, stupid woman
