E02, was their intention to make the audience feel compassion or pity for her? Because there was none of either. In novels, we say, "show don't tell" and in E02 it was more of a "tell" than "show". It was like listening to someone reading a summary with a neutral voice. It was empty. It wasn't engaging.
Other than that, it was a good backgrounder for her character and I'm glad they did it as one entire episode and not through flashbacks. For this type of genre and plot, this method fits best.
People were expecting fiction but were given the reality. Someone even said (in another show), they're watching…
Yep. It's mind boggling. The only conclusion I have is they haven't been in any relationship that went through ups and downs. For example, my 3rd ex (we've been together for 15 years) can't believe that I have a broken family. Actually, she refuses to believe it and often told me I just misunderstood everything. I didn't bother to argue about it because I once met an HR in one of my previous work that had exactly the same mindset. For these people, it's "unrealistic" and only happens in drama/fiction/novels.
Like the 2nd couple in this story. What they did. Their decisions. And everything else, were "unrealistic". They don't understand it because they've never experienced even 0.001% of it. Or, maybe they did experience it so they just refuse to acknowledge the plot because they'll force to face their own reality and pain.
(P.s. Others might say I'm being harsh, but saying "unrealistic" to a true-to-life plot is way more harsher. 🙂)
They’re together in my mind 🥲 Despite how people said it was better for them to be apart, I think they won’t…
You know what's funny? Even me and my ex, met again because of work. It kept repeating. It was like the universe kept making sure our paths crossed so that we can put a proper closure. Until years later (11 years after break-up), we finally talked about it & said the unsaid things.
After that, our paths no longer crossed. The few times we've seen each other were because we did plan on it and we're just friends. Gone were the lingering emotions. Totally different from before.
It's so hard to explain. And the 2nd couple perfectly captured what we experienced in real life.
They’re together in my mind 🥲 Despite how people said it was better for them to be apart, I think they won’t…
From someone who went through a very similar relationship and breakup and only properly putting a closure to it years later, yes, it is true. People like us rarely finds another beautiful relationship, and rarely loves the same way again.
You see. The person who we experienced the most happy, sad, painful, and joy, will always have a special place in our soul. Most especially if you are both "first loves" (which generally start in teenage years).
This is why it is very important to put a proper closure to first loves, otherwise, it'll continually follow us like a shadow. Like what happened to the 2nd couple in this story, and what happened to me and my ex.
Oh! It doesn't mean no one can surpass the first love. Rather, for us who went through this deep long-term relationship, with all the ups and downs, and putting a proper closure to it only years after the literal break up, has reached a point where that relationship became a part of our lives. The shadow we created for not putting a proper closure already merged with us. We grew up with it.
So, when breaking up, do it properly. Don't just end it. Talk about it. Say all the unsaid things. And never ever leave the other party hanging, give them a chance to say whatever they want to say (assuming they're not a psycho or a criminal, obviously). You both agreed to have a relationship, so have the decency to split up with a proper closure. Otherwise, it's going to pull you together, maybe not literally but you can feel it.
Finished watching this drama just now, I'm sad for the 2nd couple.. they deserved a happy ending 🥲
It was a happy ending. It's so hard to explain. Me and my ex went through the same thing, same reasons, same pain, same stupid decisions, same bitterness. It took us 11 years after break-up to finally had a heart-to-heart talk and say all the unsaid things. The only difference (other than the years) is we remain good friends to this day.
From experience, they had a happy ending because they were able to put a proper closure and resolve their lingering emotions. They both need it. After they were able to close it properly, they can finally smile and move on without any regrets. Not only that, to be a supportive ex even from a distance.
Trust me, they had a happy ending. A happy ending that is realistic and true-to-life.
The second lead couple’s story is filled with resentment but told in a way that makes sense. Overcompensation…
I like them better because I was able to relate 100%, we went through the same thing! The only difference, we chose to be friends instead of strangers.
It saddens me that most people failed to see what the 2nd couple is about, some even called it "unrealistic". 🤷🏽 It's very realistic. It's true-to-life. And many parts of their fictional relationship actually happened, or happens, to a lot of couples even married ones. And this type or relationship, as explained by the girl, it rarely gets a second chance. And the only way to truly end it is to talk and say everything you want to say that you didn't say before. Release all that bitterness. Then and only then the both of you can make peace with the break-up and pain you both endured (assuming both are matured and not psychotic or obssessed of course).
We went through that. For us, it took us 11 years after break-up to finally put a proper close and to truly have a heart-to-heart talk about our past. After that, our friendship grew stronger, and there were no more lingering emotions. Prior to that talk, even though we remained friends, we both knew there were lingering emotions and confusion. But after we had a talk, we both learned we don't want to get back together, rather, it was those unsaid words that was confusing us.
And yes, same thing. One party gave too much for the other. The other party sees it differently. But in the end, we realized, we both made mistakes and we were not ready, we were too young, lacked knowledge and experience about life. We never regretted it. We were sad of course, we cried, we wished things were different. But regret? No. We had a good relationship and it taught us valuable lessons.
And that's what the 2nd couple in this series is about. A very important side-plot that most people are missing.
The 2nd couple were realistic. How did I know? I've been through what they went through. In fact, by E02, I already knew the 2nd couple will break-up and they'll never get back together; and it is the girl who will initiate the break-up. I was silently praying they never do a fan service because that will make it unrealistic. You see, people who break-up for the reasons the girl stated, very rarely get back together. They can be friends, the girl wanted them to be. But they can also be strangers, with no hatred or anger or any emotions (the true sign one moved on and healed).
I actually like them more than the main couple because I was able to relate with them 100%. 😉
Don't get confused, «Melo Movie» is a 10-episode series about love from romance to family to friendships, and yes, even break-ups and moving on.
If you're thinking it's just another typical melo story, well, you're wrong. It tackles a lot of topics about love and life, and how different people handle the challenges the world throws at us. It can either remind us of how good it is to feel loved and to love someone, or give us new lessons we haven't gone through that we can use one day.
Or, maybe, it's just me because I was able to relate to many of the plots that I've been through one way or another. From a parent-children relationship to how not ending a relationship properly can stop us getting back on our feet.
Wow. Pak Boyeong is on a roll. Her strategy is amazing. Film projects one after another. Take a break while her finished projects start airing one-by-one. Then start filming multiple projects again during the time we'll miss her, increasing her fans desire to see more of her. Repeat and rinse.
Its so interesting plot karan dreaming of kliao from her childhood and wanted to become doctor to meet her and…
Based on the bench scenes, the timeline we're watching at the hospital was already the second timeline.
In the 1st timeline: * 1FL had trouble in the ER. Got depressed. * 2FL met 1FL while she's about to go home and handed her the umbrella.
However, she probably died later. So 2FL traveled back in time.
In the 2nd timeline (the one we're watching): * 2FL visited the ER and prevented an issue and saved 1FL's career. She also gave her an advise. * 2FL did not meet her later. She avoided her and played "cold". Did not give her an umbrella. * 1FL sat on the bench and had a brief recollection of the 1st timeline. (Typical trope in time travel.) * 1FL saw the news about the other suspect. The one she missed in the 1st timeline. She probably did something. * After that, since she knew it's going to rain, she traveled back in time to the bench scene with an umbrella.
What was that umbrella thing did we miss something i'm confused too??
She has two memories by the time she sat on the bench. That means something happened and 2FL changed things. I'm suspecting, in her first memory 2FL handed her the umbrella but she died later. So, in the new timeline, she did not meet her.
Then 1FL sat on the bench and that was when she remembered briefly. Then it rained, 2FL traveled in time again and used the umbrella that she originally gave (the brief memory of 1FL).
I didn't read the novels, just based on what I've noticed.

If you can't handle comments who disagrees with you in a civil discussion, stop leaving public comments. 🤣🤣🤣
