If the story is not worth it for you, then don't watch. You should not watch any fiction just because of the actors/actresses…
He's a support actor in this show, so don't expect much screentime. MDL's "main actor" label only refers to the role of their character, since his character is the "main" antagonist, MDL classified him as "main role". But beyond that, he's actually only a Support character. You'll see more of Seung Yeon because she's the younger sister, than Joon, even though both of them are technically Support characters.
Is it worth watching??I need motivation to carry on ep 1
If you like political drama, especially in a large family, then it will appeal to you. Otherwise, no, feel free to move on.
This drama is deep and there are a lot of political alliances and betrayals, it will definitely confused anyone not used to this.
If this is the first time you're going to watch this type of deep political and family drama, but you have real-life experience in such (maybe your own family is full of politics and/or you once worked for an organization with such high politics) then you'll be able to follow and probably enjoy it too.
I have watched first 4 episodes and I am not drawn in. Is it worth it to stick around for Lee Joon?
If the story is not worth it for you, then don't watch.
You should not watch any fiction just because of the actors/actresses because no matter how good they may be, if the story doesn't appeal to you, watching it will only be a chore.
The celebrities do this primarily for "work", and secondary as "something they love to do". They give their best to entertain whoever watches the show. If the show is a chore for you, then that's an injustice for the hard work they've given it.
Showbiz or show business is called the "entertainment industry" for a reason. ^_^
Why is the rating so low? When it's just airing?? :(
There are countless of fake accounts here in MDL, and other sites with uncontrolled rating system. When they do not like a particular show, for whatever reason (maybe the actors), they use all their accounts to rate it badly.
Get used to it. ^_^ It has been happening for years now and they're getting bolder too. Some of them you'll notice in the comments too.
Korea believes in shamans and rituals and all that. You probably also believe in something that they believe to…
Hehe. Yeah, they're that kind of culture. Not sure today, maybe they outgrew that shamanistic beliefs, but back then and even earlier than that … it's way beyond being superstitious, it was a religion … even though Confucianism is against it, shamanistic beliefs were in their blood.
Young Ro is another wealthy and spoiled bourgeois who has a misplaced hero complex. She not surprisingly wants…
Young Ro isn't spoiled and doesn't have a hero complex, she's naive, just as most college students 20 and under usually are.
Naive people were usually shielded from the harsh reality of the world. It's totally different from people who were spoiled and/or have a hero complex.
Young Ro is naive. To keep her father's and stepmom's ambitions, they shielded her from the outside world. The mere fact that they sent her to one of Korea's most exclusive and most prestigious women's school at that time, is a sign that her parents want her to grow and be educated properly while being shielded from the harsh reality of the world. It not only benefits Young Ro herself, but it also benefits them--the parents.
If Young Ro's spoiled, she wouldn't keep her identity secret. She will immediately broadcast to the whole dorm how she's the daughter of ANSP Director and how they should all kneel before her or be branded a communist. If Young Ro's spoiled, Book Ok wouldn't stand a chance against her. If Young Ro's spoiled, she would made sure that even Ms. Pi would side with her.
A spoiled child is someone who thinks they have all the privileges in the world because they're rich and their family is politically powerful. Young Ro is every bit the opposite of a spoiled child. Even when she revealed her identity to Soo Ho, she whispered and made sure no one else heard her. A spoiled brat wouldn't do that because it is their pride. A child who was raised properly and made to understand not their family's success is not a privilege the child earns because of their name, are humble and quiet about it.
Young Ro is naive. Until the hostage started, her world was blissful, perfect, a beautiful college life where hormones abound. Crushes here. Handsome guys there. Fantasies and fairytales.
When the hostage and shooting started, her world collapsed. Suddenly, the real world was being forced down her throat. And it took her days to accept that reality.
Just like any naive person, she blamed herself thinking it was all her fault. Just like any naive person, she wanted to fix things by sacrificing herself. Just like any naive person, she made decisions without thinking about it thoroughly.
A person with a hero complex is a person who would never act because they are blaming themselves over something and wants to fix things because it was all their fault. A person with a hero complex thinks that they are the only one who can solve it because they are better than everybody else and they want to be known for it, to be credited for it, to gain recognition.
Young Ro never showed any sign of someone with a hero complex. If anything, it was Boon Ok who had the hero complex. She's always looking for recognition. For example, when names were being called on who will be released, Boon Ok took it upon herself to stand up and say spoke out about "how unfair" the selection process was, and how her suspicions are correct--favouritism.
That's a clear sign of someone with a hero complex. They don't care about anything other than to be recognized that they are correct in their assumptions, and they saved everyone. In this case, she tried to prove there was favouritism.
Unfortunately for Boon Ok, her attempt to be the hero backfired. Apparently, her name was on the list. Because of her desire to be the hero, to be recognized for it, she made everything worse for everyone. Instead of anyone getting released, no one did until after a few days. And well … she also lost her chance permanently.
I'm halfway through ep.8 but something was bothering me so much I had to pause and post here. How is the FL so…
Remember, she's the other half of a soul. She's the other half that doesn't remember her past lives. She did not even believe about reincarnation until she saw the bones of Kim Hwa Yeon.
All she knew was a bulgasal was hunting them "in the present". She didn't even believed it as much as she does presently.
Secondly, there are some people who choose to be "bubbly and happy" when faced with insurmountable odds. Instead of sulking in sorrow and fear, they choose to be "bubbly and happy" just to get on with their lives … especially if they need to care for someone, like in her case, her younger sister who doesn't believe a single thing.
Sang Woon's twin, Sang Yeon, who remembers all their past lives, perfectly fits your "Sarah Connor" comparison.
For someone who is suppose to be immortal, Hwal sure dies a lot. Also when will people realize everyone besides…
"Immortality" does not mean you are not going to die. What it means is that death has no hold on you.
In Highlander, if they were not killed by fellow Highlanders, they just come back to life. Highlanders are immortals and can only be killed by fellow Highlanders.
In the same way that bulgasals can only be killed by bulgasals. If they die with methods other than the proper way through that hands of a bulgasal, they will just come back to life.
Episode 2 Part 1: * Female Bulgasal: I will be born again with this scar that you have given me.
Episode 2 Part 2: * Min Sang Yeon and Min Sang Woon are twin sisters. They have a younger sister named Min Shi Ho. * In 2006, Min Sang Yeon was killed by an older Bulgasal. Min Sang Woon and Min Shi Ho fled and lived with the sister of Min Sang Yeon in her previous life. * Min Sang Yeon remembers all her past lives. * Min Sang Yeon have a scar, a reminder of the sword Dan Hwan used to kill her. Min San Wool doesn't have any, at least based on what was hinted. * Min Sang Yeon told her twin: "he (the bus driver) is after my soul". * Yet, the soul which the monsters can smell is in Min Sang Woon. * It appears that the female Bulgasal's reincarnation was split into two. The sword scar and being able to remember her past lives went to Min Sang Yeon; while the soul of Dan Hwan went to Min Sang Woon.
Episode 3: * Min Sang Woon kept trying to remember what her twin sister, Min Sang Yeon, told her when she (Sang Woon) hid in the closet (as seen in Episode 2). * Min Shi Ho showed up.
Episode 4: * Min Shi Ho's right hand hurts when she touches someone. -- Remember in Episode 2 when the female Bulgasal stole the soul of Dan Hwan, a soul mark showed up on her right hand. * Min Shi Ho can feel something when touching other people with her right hand. * Confirmed that Min Sang Woon was also the female Bulgasal, giving credence to the "twin theory". * Min Shi Ho was Dan Sol, the wife of Dan Hwan in the past.
Episode 5 & 6: * Confirmed our earlier theory that the reincarnated female bulgasal was split into two. - However, I submit that the female bulgasal was not exactly split into two but rather her soul and Hwal's soul were separated. - Hwal's soul is in Min Sang Woon - The soul of the female bulgasal was in Min Sang Yeon - Min Sang Yeon, the older of the twins, did something to protect Min Sang Woon from the ancient bulgasal. - The female bulgasal is already dead (Min Sang Yeon) and is probably in limbo because she needs the soul of Hwal to be reincarnated -- but his soul is still in Min Sang Woon. * Also revealed that there is a curse on the head of the female bulgasal and she wants to kill Hwal. That dream is not clear: a. Was the female bulgasal referring to the ancient bulgasal, the one she desperate wants to kill? b. Was she referring to the curse of reincarnation and remembering all her past lives? (Which sucks if you ask me.) * Just like what Hwal asked, who exactly is Min Sang Woon if she is not the female bulgasal? Is she simply the female version of Hwal's soul? - Does it mean then that if Hwal has taken Min Sang Woon's soul she would simply ceased to exist? There will be no female bulgasal since she's dead already? Only Min Sang Yeon have the sword scar. - If she's simply the female version of Hwal's soul, what would happen if Hwal the bulgasal kills her? Would he be able to retake his soul? Or would he cease to exist since he technically killed himself/herself?
Episode 7: * Kim Hwa Yeon (50 years ago; around 1971) - another past life of Min Sang Yeon & Min Sang Woon * Kim Go Bun - younger sister of Kim Hwa Yeon; grandmother of Min sisters * Hye Suk (Shaman) - burn on her right leg; was the young girl renting in the Kim's home.
Min Sang Woon (the other half) - She only remembers when she's asleep. - She's bonded with Ok Eul Tae - theory: she's carrying Ok Eul Tae's soul
"The baby should have been killed when it was covered in its dead mother's blood. The curse of the blood should have ended then." - The baby was Hwal.
Episode 8: * Ok Sang Yeong was the previous name of Ok Eul Tae.
Prophesy: The one with no memory is here. The moment that person regains their memory everyone here will die. In the same way that they died in their past lives, their necks will be bitten into. They will bleed from every orifice and die.
Kim Hwa Yeon said: It's all his fault. He caused everything. You told us that it was all because of Dark Hole. A man with a scar on his hand has been after you for 600 years. It's because Dark Hole killed that man's family 600 years ago and made it look like you did it.
-- prophesy interpretation + Kim Hwa Yeon's warning: ---- If Min Sang Woon remembers what actually happened 600 years ago, Ok Eul Tae will kill everyone. ---- Min Sang Woon did not literally remember, but she learned that it was Ok Eul Tae who killed Hwal's family, not her. ---- because of this, Ok Eul Tae have no other option but to kill everyone to get what he wants--which is, to force Hwal to kill Min Sang Woon (since he can't do it himself)
Bonus: Detective Su Gyeong (who happened to be Dan Hwal's mother 600 years ago) - female junior detective
Kwon Seung In (was a serial killer in Gunam City who poisoned his victims in the 70s; was killed by a bulgasal) - father with two kids - daughter was also killed
According to Ok Eul Tae: The one next to you is more frightening. But you don't see its true self when it has lost all its memories.
I kinda have to suspend my disbelief sometimes when the FL comes on screen. Some of her decisions (or the writer’s…
Her character is still fine, they still haven't crossed the line of being foolish. Compare that to the lead character in One Ordinary Day: (a) 25-year old guy + (b) supposedly served 2 years in the military already + (c) spent months in prison = still acting like a 15 year old high school both in prison and in court.
