brotherhood in the middle of chaos

for a short drama, this series is truly amazing. this is actually my first time watching a chinese drama with a zombie theme, and i was genuinely impressed by how well the story was executed. the plot flows smoothly and keeps you engaged from beginning to end, making it very easy to follow despite the short duration.
the characters are extremely well written and memorable. each role feels strong and distinctive, and the actors did an excellent job portraying their characters, making them feel very real and alive on screen. their performances added depth to the story and made the emotional moments even more impactful. the presence of plot twists genuinely surprised me and kept the story exciting. even though the drama is short, it never feels rushed or incomplete. instead, it delivers a clear storyline that is both concise and satisfying. this makes it perfect for viewers who enjoy light dramas but still want something thrilling and engaging. i would highly recommend this drama to anyone looking for a short yet powerful watch. one of the most touching aspects for me was the bond between dong qing and lobak. their brotherhood was deeply moving, as they consistently protected and cared for each other, which added a strong emotional core to the story

ateeee

honestly, this drama had me hooked from the very first eps. it's kinda wild how good it is. like, the editing, the cgi, the whole visual atmosphere, everything just feels top tier. u can tell the production team really went all out cs the fights look smooth, the transitions slap, and the world building feels alive. n the storyline? bro, it flows so nicely most of the time that u barely realize u’ve been watching for hours. it's the kind of show that makes u say, “aight, one more eps" n then suddenly it’s 3 am n u’re still sitting there like a clown invested in fictional people. nut in the best way.

even with all that praise, though, there r still a few things that lowkey bugged me. not enough to ruin the drama, but enough to make me go, “Hah? Kok tiba-tiba gitu?” one of the biggest examples is mu ciling. if i remember correctly, he literally risked his life trying to hold off the enemies just so the others could get medical treatment. that moment felt like setup for something big like some payoff, a follow up arc, or at least a mention. but nah, bro just evaporated from the script. he disappeared like wifi signal during a rainstorm. no explanation, no closure, no flashback, nothing. u expect him to return later or at least get a proper send off, but the drama just moves on like he never existed. it's kinda insane bcs he wasn’t even a minor background character. he actually had relevance. so having his storyline cut off like that feels like a missing puzzle piece.

another thing that confused me is the whole situation with su changhe and su muyu’s teacher. like… why didn’t the teacher step in when things were getting real bad? it was literally life or death for the main characters, n u’d think someone with that level of skill and authority would at least try to help. but nope, we never get an explanation. not even a half baked reason like “oh, she was injured,” or “she had to protect something else,” or “she made a vow not to interfere.” nothin. the teacher just dips out of the narrative like a ghost. it makes the whole thing feel a bit unbalanced, because u keep wondering why she’s even introduced if she won’t play any meaningful role when the plot gets heavy. they could’ve easily added a line or a scene to justify his absence, but instead we’re left guessing like it’s some mystery we were supposed to solve on our own.

what annoys me is that the drama clearly has the potential to be airtight. the plot is already strong, the characters have depth, and the emotional beats hit hard. that’s why these missing details stick out so much. they don’t match the level of quality the show already has. the world of the drama feels detailed and well crafted, so when there are gaps like these, it feels like the writers either ran out of time or just forgot to clean up some storylines.

don’t get me wrong though. i still think the drama is fire. the vibe, the intensity, the character arcs, all of it is chef’s kiss. but i kinda wish they spent a little more time tying up the loose ends, especially for characters who actually mattered to the plot. if they had explained mu ciling disappearance and given us a proper reason why the teacher didn’t step in, the narrative would’ve felt way more complete.

in the end, it’s still one of those dramas u can binge like crazy because the highs are so damn good. The flaws don’t ruin it. they just make you wish the show had gone that one extra step to become truly perfect.

the storyline

omg, this drama is seriously so damn good, like i'm obsessed fr. i swear not enough people are talking about how amazing it actually is. the storyline hits different. it literally mirrors real high school life so well. fang xue, the class president, is the kind of friend everyone wishes they had. she’s always looking out for her friends, finding every possible way to protect them no matter what.

te plot feels so raw and real, like every little moment reflects what so many teens actually go through. everything’s wrapped up so neatly. no random nonsense, just pure emotions and solid storytelling. i won’t even lie, some scenes hit me right in the heart.

this drama honestly gave me so much motivation to chase my dreams and never give up on my goals. and when li dalai finally realized what he had done, that moment was so powerful and touching. it really got me in my feels. i genuinely wish i had friends like them. the kind of people who always have your back no matter what. this isn’t just a drama, it’s a whole emotional ride

hmm..

this drama is truly incredible. the storyline is well crafted, n several of the dialogues include quotes that carry deeper meanings, which i find absolutely fascinating. the plot feels light and easy to follow, yet it still manages to be engaging n entertaining from start to finish. i really enjoyed how the story unfolded, but I have to admit that the ending left me quite confused. why did everything turn out to be just a dream? doesn’t that mean all the efforts n struggles of the main character were completely wasted? it’s even more puzzling bcs in the very first episode, the female lead clearly said, “this isn’t a dream.” that line made the ending feel inconsistent and contradictory. despite that, the conflicts throughout the drama were relatively light and easy to understand. i highly recommend this drama, especially for beginners who are just getting into this genre. the way the main character deals with challenges is impressive and inspiring. she uses clever strategies that make the story full of unexpected twists and turns. overall, it’s a drama that blends emotional depth with simplicity, and even though the ending might feel unsatisfying, the journey to get there is definitely worth watching.

Yuan Bao mentality

yuan bao is literally the biggest walking burden in this drama. she really sent everyone straight to their death and still acted like nothing happened. like… be so delusional. instead of owning up and making it right, he chose to jump off a cliff?? That’s peak clown energy 🤡.

this girl has the emotional intelligence of a brick and the brain capacity of a goldfish. she gets manipulated so easily it’s actually embarrassing to watch 😭. every time someone lies to her, she just eats it up like it’s the truth written by god. no critical thinking, no survival instinct, just pure main character stupidity.

she’s the type of character who walks straight into a trap with full confidence, then cries after realizing she’s been played. like girl… use your brain, it’s free. her entire existence in this story is basically to make dumb choices and drag everyone down with her.

honestly, the plot would’ve made more sense if she just got written off in episode one. no offense, but the villain had more common sense than her. she’s not even a tragic character, she’s just frustrating to watch.

longing for justice in a broken world

this drama is truly crafted with exceptional quality, and every detail feels thoughtfully put together. the actors performances are incredibly immersive, making each character feel alive and deeply connected to the story, which only adds to how engaging the narrative becomes. the storyline flows so smoothly yet powerfully, and the pacing is remarkably well executed, keeping me hooked from beginning to end. i genuinely did not expect there to be so many plot twists, and each one came as a shock that heightened my curiosity and emotional involvement even more. this is, without a doubt, one of the most captivating dramas that absolutely deserves to be watched. it is not just entertaining, but also emotionally impactful and meaningful. i found myself crying because of the way shen wan and yan qi uphold justice with such integrity and fairness in their actions. their characters represent hope, showing how justice, when practiced sincerely, can bring peace and stability to society. watching them made me reflect deeply on the world we live in, and it would truly be beautiful if justice genuinely existed everywhere in real life, just as it is portrayed so powerfully in this drama.

a story that forgot its own details

finally, i’ve finished watching this drama. i started it mainly to support my idol’s latest project, yu shuxin, whom i’ve been following for a long time. overall, the cast did a really good job bringing their characters to life, making it easy to feel emotionally connected to them. the acting performances are genuinely strong, especially from yu shuxin and he yu. their emotional expressions feel natural and sincere. from crying scenes to teary eyes and subtle facial changes. yu shuxin, in particular, portrayed jiang mu beautifully. even small details, like the hair clips she wears, make her truly look like a 19 yo girl. her gestures and expressions fit the character well and show her dedication as an actress. that said, it’s a shame that the storyline itself is quite disappointing. i had been waiting for this drama for about two years, so my expectations were naturally high. unfortunately, the plot doesn’t live up to that anticipation. there are many scenes that feel awkward, rushed, or poorly explained.
for example, when jin zhao gets into an accident, the story focuses heavily on his suffering while completely overlooking the person who actually caused it. this makes the narrative frustrating and hard to stay engaged with. the perpetrator is barely addressed, and their arrest happens without any meaningful scenes or consequences shown, even though jin zhao ends up suffering for eight years because of it. as a viewer, this feels unsatisfying and unfinished. i also find it strange that an accident like this would realistically require eight years of suffering, yet the drama never really explains why. another confusing part is how jin zhao is suddenly found by the police and taken to the hospital after the accident, without any explanation of how that happened. a short scene could have easily clarified this, but it was simply skipped.
later on, when lin sui invites jin zhao to rejoin the team, the story doesn’t clearly show what jin zhao plans to do next. many important plot points are left unresolved, making the storytelling feel incomplete. overall, the drama places too much focus on the romance between jiang mu and jin zhao, which causes other important aspects of the story to be neglected. the romance becomes overwhelming, while the plot logic and narrative depth suffer as a result. in the end, while the acting and character portrayals. especially yu shuxin’s are strong and memorable, the weak and messy storytelling makes this drama a disappointing experience, especially considering how much potential it had.

an enjoyable journey from start to finish

honestly, this drama is insanely good n truly lives up to my expectations. from start to finish, the storyline flows smoothly with conflicts that are light, engaging, and very easy to follow, making it an excellent choice for anyone who’s new to chinese dramas. what i really love is how the plot never feels overwhelming. everything is well paced, so u can fully enjoy the story without feeling confused or tired. the teamwork between fu sheng, gu tian, and wenjue is especially impressive. their chemistry and cooperation feel natural and convincing, which plays a huge role in delivering such a satisfying and well earned ending. on top of that, the acting performances are absolutely solid. every actor truly embodies their role, delivering emotions with depth and sincerity. u can genuinely feel the characters, struggles, growth, and connections throughout the drama.
overall, this drama is entertaining, heartwarming, and very easy to enjoy. it’s definitely a great watch. not only for beginners, but also for anyone looking for a well executed chinese drama with strong performances and a rewarding ending.

Story line

this drama truly shines in its pacing, world-building, and emotional depth, but one thing keeps nagging at me: why was romance even necessary? the story already stands strong on its own, and honestly, removing the romance could have elevated the entire narrative. zang hai was a man shaped entirely by revenge, someone who lived and breathed for a single purpose, yet the script keeps inserting romantic distractions that weaken the sharpness of his journey. ten years is a long time to cultivate hatred and strategy, but somehow he still becomes careless in several key moments, which makes his character feel inconsistent.

i also feel that zang hai should have taken much longer to learn about the complexities between men and women, because those emotional entanglements clearly slowed down his pursuit of vengeance. xiang an tu, on the other hand, is portrayed as deeply vengeful yet hopelessly romantic at the same time, and her presence constantly disrupts zang hai’s path. her obsession adds tension, yes, but it also reveals how easily the story allows personal feelings to interfere with major plotlines.

another detail that confused me was zang hai’s declaration that he wanted to bury his parents properly, only for him to later choose to burn them. the contradiction feels jarring and almost illogical, especially coming from someone whose entire motivation revolves around honoring his parents’ memory. decisions like this make the narrative feel uneven, as if the emotional logic of the characters doesn’t always align with their stated intentions.

yet, strangely enough, once i got past episode 38, everything began to settle into place. the emotional beats finally connected, and i realized how carefully the entire story had actually been crafted. all the flaws, contradictions, and imperfections contribute to a larger emotional tapestry that hits surprisingly hard. despite my frustrations, i ended up feeling genuinely moved. the drama, with all its complexity and contradictions, is still beautifully designed and deeply touching in its own way.
