Hmm.... I have to agree on some point but also disagree on some points. Yes Japan has made a lot of great movies…
Ok, we don't need to continue debating this. You don't care for JDramas because they are repetitive to you and I don't care for KDramas. Let's move on, please.

Well, you have your opinion and you are certainly entitled to it. I don't know how many JDramas you've watched, but they certainly all are not repetitive. I've watched LOADS of them and only see repetitive themes on the high school/love interest ones. But, I don't watch too many of those kinds anyway. I LOVE the Code Blue and Kounodori series. I've watched a lot of historical KDramas in the past but these modern day ones I can't take. Talk about being repetitive, KDramas have worn that story out about Prince Sado! How many times has that been done? lol
I guess it just comes down to taste and my taste is JDramas. :)
I LOVED this drama so much! The female lead was quirky, cute and funny and Haruma, well, what can you say about this gorgeous guy? He was great as her younger love interest. Very inspirational and "feel good" movie. I watch it again from time to time.
I adore him! I just watched a medical drama with him and Asano Tadanobu - he was brilliant! And, in "Pride", what a great movie. Also, he made a commercial with Beyonce - two gorgeous people!
There's one point that's been missed about this subject: the average age of the Kdrama fanatics. Most of these diehard fans who don't want to watch JDramas because of blah, blah, blah, are really young. By that, I mean teens to early twenties. Not all, certainly, but the majority, I suspect. Why? Because most of the reasons are really immature, IMO. If you don't watch JDramas AT ALL, how can you cast such dispersions?
Japan has a long and storied history of great filmmaking. On any list of classic great movies, you will find the genius of Akira Kurosawa. Not only him, but Ozu, Mizoguchi, so many. Who can name ANY film from Korea before the KPop era? Korea has gained it's popularity through K-pop, a manufactured piece of entertainment geared towards young females. The plastic surgery, makeup and the need for perfection, which is found in Korean society, has turned KPop into a phenom of marketing (even if the idols don't necessarily sing and dance that well).
When speaking of the looks of the J actors, it's so ridiculous it really doesn't deserve an answer, but I like to combat stupid arguments. The thing I really, really LOVE about Japan's acting and music industry is how it gives the freedom to be different. How, it's not a "cookie cutter" industry like Korea where everyone has to look alike - if you have talent, you're in. Good, NATURAL looks: Fukushi Sota - Daito Shunsuke - Arai Atsushi - Yamamoto Ryosuke - Matsuzaka Tori - Miura Haruma - Yamazaki Kento - Satoh Takeru...I could go on and on. No matter how good you look, if you can't act, I'm not watching.
Japan isn't trying to rule the world with their movies and record sales, although Japan has the second largest music industry in the world, after America. They do have very strict copyright rules but, what can you do?
I used to watch Kdramas, the historical ones. Watching 60 to 90 episodes where they drag stuff out to fill up time was too frustrating. Also, the bad guy never dies until the last episode. smh I stopped watching Kdramas a few years ago. They were too long, most of the acting wasn't very good and the themes were repetitive. Not to mention, just about all the leading stars looked alike with plastic surgery. It was off putting. They had round eyes, sharp noses, chiseled faces - not Korean looking at all. Very disappointing. All those "romantic comedies" were boring and sappy. If I want fairy tales, I'll watch a cartoon. Real people all don't look like that. JDramas have regular looking people, not perfect. Japan has some of the best medical and police dramas out there, my favorites.
I don't see anything wrong with Suda's hair - he might have it that way for a movie. Either way, he's darned cute!!
