this part is actually not explained well in the drama. acc to the father, she is in fact his daughter. and nowhere was it mentioned that they were the same age. so my guess is he rufei is a son from a previous marriage, after which he married he yans mom n had her.
in the novel this whole thing was explained way better as they were cousins sharing the same birthday and not siblings

the only way i can explain that mingshui battle issue is, xjf planned it for hrf. nobody in the court had seen feihong before that n since feihong would be a witness for the mingshui battle, it would help him establish himself as feihong, not he yan. thus he could replace her easier. the drama cut a lot of parts from the novel so i found a lot of things made less sense here. her drowning, the line "i love the moon, the moon doesn't know", tiny details as these.

this wasnt the worst emperor in cdramaland. rather he was one of the actually good ones. this was proved by the repeatedly giving time to zhuges unit. also xbm was brought 2 people he trusted and xbm had a good impression with him previously n at this point he just didnt care whether he lived or died. im glad the emperor got a truth slap to awaken him.

tbh, no. cz is a scheming person n extremely selfish n would do anything to preserve his own interests above anything else. he would go as far as giving up even yingxiang for his own interests. he really is morally corrupt. he turns on his shifu n kills him. tho yes i admit to his shifu he was just a pawn or a dog he raised. he also approached fl out of other motives than just his feelings, which were originally just pretense. he is trash, n he knows it, and he doesn't regret it. he accepted that he was in fact shadow, not light.
chu guihong is a self righteous bastard who thinks he is the best, nothing he does is wrong in his eyes, but still has a huge victim complex. he was so wretched that he completely convinced himself that the wrongs he did were right. didnt even have the balls to admit that he was trash. sick in the head.
watched them both, n i hate them both. each time 2ml appears in adwad or here, i feel like getting inside the screen n just killing them off to do my main couple a favour

originally i didnt quite understand the high rating here. but now that i finished it, firstly that was the perfect ending, then pacing and editing were great. no filler, staight to the point, no extreme cuts that leave things without explanation, decent story n decent acting. likeable fl, pretty good relationship dynamics between mc, no unnecessary angst or breakup between mc. satisfying ending. bingeworthy for sure

this saving was actually more meaningful in the novel considering how she was drowned n murdered. so her fear of water was justified. after killing bunch of enemies when she fell into water, she went numb out of trauma so needed saving. but here it wasnt, just for the underwater kiss
