Just finished watching episode 8 and 9 after work, and I can't help but gush about it especially episode 9. I've never felt such intense rage and hatred ever, but when Ren Susu's throwback played I really feel like if those evil creatures are in front of me, I'd take the matters in my own hands and get revenge for Ren Susu myself. This is the first time that I genuinely cried watching a drama, I'm even breathless at some point. That orphanage is really a hell on earth, I feel so bad for the real Fang Mulan, imagine being an heiress, but got kidnapped during your visit in China when you're 9 years old. Living in hell since then and when you grew up, got sold to a rich man, became his plaything, abusing you everyday, miscarriage and leaving you alone without the help of a doctor, just letting you die slowly. I really can't blame Ren Susu why she's so obsessed of getting revenge 'cause it's supposed to be her, she's supposed to be one who who will be sold to that devil, but Mulan saved her and chose to offer herself. She tried her best to rescue her, but she's too late, Mulan is already on her death bed just waiting to say her last words. Looking forward for more throwbacks, it really sets the mood, so gut-wrenching. This might become my most favorite drama if they can perfectly perform the next turning point of the story, so excited for the next episodes 😊
I just have an urge to drop some comment again after episode 6 and 7, so I've said yesterday that the AI, CGI, camera work and filter doesn't bother me as much as others 'cause my focus is on the storyline and the acting. The new episodes just solidified my first impression towards the drama and I'm now completely following it 'til the end. Episodes 6 and 7 was so intense and now putting out the foundation of Ren Susu's real purpose, on where she's coming from, how and why she became a morally corrupt person who can easily kill without a second thought. There's a scene where it's kinda funny (the plane scene) due to the absurd cgi, but after laughing it off for a minute my focus is back in the story, didn't really bothered me a bit 😂 Anyways, I can't wait to see Ren Susu's throwbacks and revenge, it won't be easy for her tho due to some circumstances. Also, I can't help, but root for Ren Susu and Murong Qingyi despite of the love and hate they're going on right now, knowing their past, I just want to see them finally happy and free from their hellish past 😊
I finally came across an objective review. Honestly, the fast pacing is just a result of how the story is told.…
I love the pacing, five episodes in and the storyline is already put out just waiting to unfold. I disagree with the others that say it has a vertical drama vibes, for me it's more of a vintage style. That's the vibe I'm getting while watching it, like I'm watching a drama from the past, really amusing how they managed to give such atmosphere.
I've been waiting for this drama since I've learned to know Wang Churan and since this is her most anticipated drama, I've decided to watch it despite of the criticisms as I want to decide on my own if the drama is really bad or it's just an overreaction. Done watching the first five episodes and I would say the camera work is questionable sometimes, the filter isn't the best, the editing could be better, the use of AI in the intro wasn't needed, but to be honest, none of those really affects me to the point of not watching anymore. It doesn't bother me as much as the others, I was so engrossed with the story that all the flaws doesn't matter. I love the acting, I might be bias regarding the acting, but I truly love Wang Churan's acting, the way her eyes tells a complete story without the need to say anything really gets me, and this is the first drama I've watched from Zhang Linghe and I just want to say, he's not as stiff as they say he is, the man can act. His eyes looks so alive and innocent when he's happy, so pitiful when he's hurt and deadly when he's mad. I really love the story, episode one was kinda meh, but episode two already got me hooked especially their throwbacks. They look so pure and innocent back then, so gentle and domestic, knowing their past I understand where their present selves are coming from especially Murong Qingyi. The story is fast-paced and I honestly didn't even feel the time, later did I know I've already finished the first five episodes just like that without fast forwarding (which I always do whenever the story is boring). This is why I never listened to anyone's opinion without confirming it myself, so far so good, the only drama of Wang Churan that I don't like is still I Heard You Like Me, that drama is the worst I've ever watched. Anyways, looking forward for more episodes, I'm really excited of what's coming next 😁
I've finished watching this drama since the first night it's available via express on WeTV and it's definitely worth it. I love how it has a clear direction from the beginning to end, every actions were understandable on the characters point of view, let me have a say about some things tho. Da Jun's family is forgiven by me, at first I honestly found them repelling, but as they changed little by little to finally accepting Dang Yu, I found them honest and loveable. Da Jun is an only child and they love him very much, of course they want the best for him and to be honest Dang Yu's family was the worst (might be the reason why I changed my perception towards Da Jun's family 😅). Li Yifei started as this annoying manchild (my first impression of his character) who later on became a very loving and considerate man towards the only woman he truly loved (I don't think he truly loved Gui Lili). Qian Fei started as this very timid and naive woman (which I find infuriating sometimes) who later on became an assertive and wise woman, giving me a sense of someone who truly rose from bottom to top. I also love how they vividly show Qian Fei's change on dealing with her romantic relationship throughout the journey, from being a love-sick woman who makes a man her top priority above all else to being a career-first, romance second. When she broke up with Wang Rouhai she promised herself to never be in that situation again and she fulfilled that promise, she didn't waver no matter how much she loves Li Yifei. She made her stand clear, and I love how Yifei knows and understand that. Qian Fei and Li Yifei were the only ones who truly understand each other, I honestly find it funny that their dynamic didn't change even when they're already together and I think that's what made their relationship even stronger. Qian Fei loves to act like Li Yifei didn't matter that much, but her eyes shows pure love and amusement when Yifei starts rambling as if his bluntness is music to her ears. Overall, I truly enjoyed this drama, I'm gonna miss this chaotic couple on my screen for sure 😁
After watching How Dare You I've grown fondness towards Wang Churan, tho never expected anything from this drama which created three years ago, I still watch it just to pass some time. Started it with no expectations prior, but I'm now watching it with full interest, clear and broaden mind. This workplace plot line got my interest the way the political plot line did in How Dare You. I'm so invested now in how Director Fang will turn out, what's her part on Qian Fei's career prospect, there's a part of me who wants to believe she really treats Qian Fei as her apprentice, but the way she led Qian to do things that'll surely put her on trouble and the way she used Qian against Li Yifei (Director Fang just tested the water on how important Qian to him by making him take the blame and in return, Qian will be reinstated) tells me what I needed to know. Director Fang and Qian Fei's dynamic kinda reminds me of Father Figure by Taylor Swift and I'm so excited to know if I'm right. Moreover, Wang Churan and Tan Jianci are a pair that I never expected to be so well matched when I first saw the trailer as they don't look like they'll click, at all. They kinda surprised me with how natural they act, their bickering and even their natural physical attraction is so visible. I thought Yu Wanyin and Xiahou Dan were peaked, but Qian Fei and Li Yifei might be another level, their romance didn't even start, but the romantic feels is already there. Anyways, it's still just episode 9, there's more to come, but I'm optimistic that it'll uphold the expectations that I have for it right now, will come back to this later when I already finished it :)
As someone who never watch cdrama before I don't really know what to expect, I expected it to be cringe and and just full of unnecessary plots, but that's not what happened. Every single move have reasons and questions definitely answered, I'm so engaged about the plot and the story lines that I always go back and pause to process what's currently happening and I'm like "oh so that's why". Never been engaged to a drama before and I didn't know politics could be this enjoyable and engaging, I'm honestly thrilled whenever they're ahead of their enemies. I also like the fact that they didn't made it so easy for the main characters despite that one of them knows the plot, they remain true to the villain's character which is someone with a great knowledge, a wise conniving man. The leads are perfect, such a great duo, the chemistry is on top and then add the second female lead, they became a perfect trio, and not to mention the side characters. I definitely couldn't ask for more. This being my first cdrama set a high expectations, I hope it's not my last.
I honestly love the flow of the story and how the leads are handling themselves. They did really great to visualize the empaths' feelings and how it affects them personally. I love how the female lead isn't a typical female who needed saving and protection, but she instead needed someone who can understand her thoroughly and just quietly stay by her side. The male lead does his part very well too, they're such a great team and I'm excited for their love journey. I also hope that the second female lead will have a redemption arc, I don't like the way she plays dirty, she better not be annoying till the end.
Anyways, I can't wait to see Ren Susu's throwbacks and revenge, it won't be easy for her tho due to some circumstances. Also, I can't help, but root for Ren Susu and Murong Qingyi despite of the love and hate they're going on right now, knowing their past, I just want to see them finally happy and free from their hellish past 😊
