I have the same impression about the age gap, however ZLY is playing the stubbornness very well. Also it is funny to watch the way Yibo is flirting with an older woman. Their chemistry looks specific, but they managed to create emotions between each other.

I also hope they will sing "wuji" together and smile again.

I was mentioning the age gap. But it is not just between FL and ML. It is between FL and all characters. She looks mature woman in her 30s. She does not look as young girl having first experience in her life. I do not say she is not pretty. I do not say she is not hardworking. But she is not suitable for this role, because the story is about a young girl. I am not against if older woman has romantic relationship with younger man, but again - it is not the case in this story.

To discuss the good points and the weak points does not mean to hate the drama. Some people want to see their idols no mater what, other want to see a picture with high quality.

I've seen only the first 2 episodes today. In general - the introduction in the theme was interesting and dynamic. The scenery, costumes and design are good. The dialogues so far were well balanced - not too long or pointless, including jokes. Zanilia Zhao does not fit for the role portraying young girl/woman. (the same ridiculous situation like Li Qin in "The Wolf"). Fei looks the same age as the actors playing her mother and father. She looks at least 10 years older than Yibo - not a good match for him. (Zoey Meng, Liu Mei Tong or Ireine Song could create much better chemistry with YiBo.) YiBo is very charming when smiling. His way of acting a self-confident and slightly arrogant young man is cute. Chen Ruoxuan acting is also very good. Waiting to see other main leads.

The Untamed is not a historical drama (nothing historical in the plot). It is a pure fantasy.

In this drama he looks ordinary because of poor designers work. Bad clothes, bad hairstyle, bad make-up. Xin Zhiley is also a beautiful actress, but here she looks like chicken.

You will be confused during 1 and 2 episodes. After that - it become once in a blue moon emotional experience. Take your time to savor the facial expressions of the actors.

There are handsome male leads Darren Wang and Xiao Zhan. Also good music. That's all. If you have high expectations ... it is not close to The Untamed, It is not like Joy of life either.

Most of the children in EU watched the Game of Thrones with or without adults approval. That is the reality, no one could stop them. So The Untamed looks much more appropriate and acceptable from this point of view.

You can say it is not appropriate for all age groups, but in Europe or USA you cannot censor the viewers. Overall - the drama is moderate and much softer in regards to violence/blood/gore/horror if comparing to The Games of Thrones for example (in case, if we take the global recognition, not only China.)

Keep watching further because of Xiao Zhan and Darren Wang.
ep 1 - 20 are really weak. The plot is full of meaningless scenes and stupid conversations. The female characters are ridiculous and inadequate.

The Untamed deserves its high rating and its worldwide fame. This is a real masterpiece higher than Hollywood level. (I am much older than average fan of the drama. I am not Chinese. I did not know any of the actors before watching the Untamed, but now they are all my favorites and I follow their new projects.)
Some points - why the drama is so influential :
* the Chinese cultural specifics are shown amazing way and in deep details - costumes, musical instruments, traditions, design, nature, landscape, architecture.
* the sexual relationships are delicate and not emphasized, which make the drama acceptable for young children under 15 years old and for old traditional people as well.
* the actors are so dedicated and natural, portraying the characters. I would not say that the "Oscar acting" nowadays is better than The Untamed acting.
* all the team performed beyond expectations - directing, screenwriting, cinematography, music and such international recognition is the reward for their hard work and capability.
