For modern drama, he has a small support role in Amidst a Snowstorm of Love. But though it’s small, I thought he portrayed the older brother/cousin very well, given his young age. His styling is also great. The overall drama for me, though, was rather slow. I didn’t finish it, but only watched his scenes 😅 His other modern drama was when he was much younger, First Love, so his acting is not as strong and neither was the story. For historical drama, I also recommend The Wanted Detective is you like mysteries and crime-solving. He was also great in Story of Kunning Palace, but was unfortunately only a support actor so he didn’t have that many scenes. That said, the scenes he did have, I think he acted them really well. I was team Zhang Zhe as a result.

I really liked the bromance between Ye Ye and Mei Si. I think there was a scene where Zi Shu gave back powers to the Rat Demon after WZ had stripped it from him.

I didn’t read the book, but thought WZ became full demon because before, she had to use part of her demon power to suppress the Demonic Infant, so when MZY took the Demonic Infant core, she didn’t need her demon powers to suppress it anymore, so instead it gave her full demon power. Before, when the Demonic Infant core was in her, it was killing off her human side, so she needed a full demon body to transition to, which would have taken 100 years seclusion. Not sure if this is right, but that’s what I was thinking…😅
MZY was able to open the prison door because his father was the Cat Demon Lord, so he too, is part demon (they never said if the mom was also a demon or a human). I think this is the reason why he’s always been the strongest Celestial Master, because he has demon powers on top of what he cultivated at Changxi Palace. I think his Master knew and that’s why his Master thought he would leave Changxi Palace at some point.
Yes, MZY was originally supposed to get the Demonic Infant core, but it went to WZ accidentally because she took his lantern when he broke hers. The lantern was supposed to draw the Demonic Infant core to whoever was holding it, though I’m not sure why. I’m sure the Cat Demon Lord probably did something to the lantern. So, when he went back into the past, he righted the mistake and took the Demonic Infant core so WZ would be spared from it.
