I’m wondering whether that doctor who served the late CP are actually sympathisers of Deposed Queen Yoon and are trying to start a rebellion in her name. Cause they don’t seem to be on Consort Hwang and Chief state chancellor’s side either- well except the doctor in love with her. Wonder what Yoon wants as her promise that the Queen will have to repay.

Slowly the concubines are switching to the queens side. Through her sheer honesty and kindness. She’s buliding support whether she knows it or not. Nice to see Consort Tae humble herself, and also see consort Ko trying to help out the Queen. I’m glad we will actually see GP Sangnam actually become CP- usually that’s the end goal in this types of series and the series ends and you never see them in wielding their power. Although I suspect something may happen that sees his nephew take over him? Maybe.

Interested where Former Queen Yoon will fit in this. She’s looming in the background as a thorn in the Queen Dowager’s side. Remember our Queen promised she would fulfill her any request after she helped her out. Also the minister of war is her only relation in the palace still alive- obviously he betrayed her. I wonder if that will be explored. I hope Yoon returns to the palace and take her rightful title back!

I’m so happy Consort Ko saw the light. I’m also happy they made it clear Consort Hwang and Ko (were) of the same rank, Gwi-in, but Ko had to submit to Hwang because she had no Court backing. I love they way she told her to show courtesy as they were the same rank

I wonder what the issue is with Prince Sung Nam’s birth origins… perhaps she was someone linked to to the late crown prince aka the kings brother?? In confused why it continues to be bought up.

I feel prince Mu Ahn and his brother Sung Nam should swap love interests.. I like the calmer courtesan girl more than the ministers daughter.

Bold prediction: Prince Sungnam will be the Crown Prince, however he will adopt the grand heir as his own, and even marry the former crown princess to keep his promise to his late brother of protecting them. Minister Yoon Soo Kwang’s daughter will become his concubine - this will be a controversial outcome as the minister would expect his daughter to become CP, however it will be Sungnam whom prefers the former CP over ministers daughter, much to our Queens and Ministers dismay- the thus setting up a potential conflict for a 2nd season.

I’m rooting for Hailan too, and if you’ve read the spoilers, you know she comes out on top BUT with a heavy cost

You saw glimpses of it at the end of Empresses in the palace, when Zhen huan changes her biological sons lineage to Prince Guo’s family tree ( his “real” father anyway) because the Qianlong Emperor is a suspicious person. It also protects him by taking away any claim her real son had to the throne.

You can only image over time the distance grows between the two because of this. Tbh, I’m going in treating them as to different stories seperating Sun Li’ s brilliant performance to that of Vivian Wu’s portrayal.

It’s going to end in tragedy, theres no way around it. But I think the Emperor will regret his actions and but conceals it with harsh treatment toward her even after death, it’s a sore spot.
