This is a comments section so we are all free to comment our thoughts as long as we are respectful. In the context of your statement, I understood it to imply that you don’t understand my taste as in how inexplicable it is for someone to have that kind of taste like an off hand comment makes when they see someone with poor taste. Usually it is said because there’s no way that the subject using that term would ever have that taste themselves and can’t imagine someone else would. Friends can say this to each other for fun or if they want to make fun of someone else. To say it in this context, the meaning is pejorative.

Yes, I’m usually very picky about what I like. I didn’t like the Novoland Castle in the Sky 1 either. Overall I find the Novoland series really over funded and lacking in good scripts. Stories and characters lack quite a bit. There were two characters I liked in the Tribes and Empires, otherwise all other main characters in these stories are problematic for a number of reasons. Btw you don’t need to put down my taste just because mine differs from yours. We don’t have to make attacks on others just to MTP get our point across. You’re the first person to have done this and it’s uncalled for.
Have six more eps to go but will stop here. The leads have no chemistry and I have no interest in seeing them together. Also what the FL and the story did to Ting Jun, the continual torture of this character is unbearable. I have a feeling it will only get worse. As I haven’t been able to enjoy watching the leads being happy together while Ting Jun suffers immeasurably, I can’t watch any more of this. The rest of the story is ok. I really liked the Castle in the Sky 2, but did not enjoy this one.
This was the most disappointing in the Novoland series. Castle in the Sky 1 did a little ok but in this one I…
I watched Novoland Tribes and Empires and Eagle Flag and they were both draggy, disjointed, one was unfinished due to cost over runs, one had frustrating characters that never developed into anything. So I was hesitant to watch this one because the others were so disappointing. I actually really liked this one and finished it quickly, unlike the other two Novoland series that were frankly a mess.
This is a great drama. Beautiful story, gorgeous lead couple, lots of character development with the FL. One of the few underrated dramas. Beautiful sets, intricate costumes. Just the right number of episodes.
I don't think she is a bad character. Yes, she is tiny, and also has no muscle, so she can't fight and sports…
Yes, I’m glad she’s got things going for her, though it’s so sad she has to go through so much hardship to support her whole family. She’s a weakling right now so interested to see if she’ll grow stronger to protect herself as now the guys are always having to cover for her.

Haha funny that you say you’re tired of the perfect girl, but I’ve mostly seen dramas where the girl is bad at school, has no talent, is mediocre or average in looks, is from an average or poor family, has a tragic past like no parents, is viciously bullied, and here comes the perfect guy with looks, brains, money, status, but is cold toward everyone except the fl whom he ends up saving time and time again. I often think dang, she’s so pitiful, why don’t they give her some kind of talent instead of having nothing good in her life and seeing her suffer all the time. I guess it makes people feel more connected with a relatable character, but irl no one is that pitiful either.
ehh too cheesy + FL is too annoying for me... I'd rather rewatch tiger and rose lol
Thank you! You expressed my thoughts exactly! Why this terrible show is even rated so highly is beyond me! Do people like this type of brainless, flaky girl who ditches work projects to chase persistently after a boy? She’s giving all of us second hand embarrassment for the female gender. The FL’s over acting is another huge turn off.
I don’t get it why others would give it a low rating when this is really a nice story. I also love te second…
Hi, I think if they’ve watched the original, they’re comparing to this one, and the original is just way better. The story and production just flows much nicer in the original one. For me, I just found it very boring because I knew what was going to happen, but there was nothing fresh about it to surprise me. The second lead was very handsome. I usually like the FL as I’ve watched all her dramas, but I didn’t even like her in this one. So those are my reasons for dropping the drama.
Btw the cases they solve are really good and intriguing. That’s the main reason why I liked the show so much up to epi 31, when it took a terrible nosedive.
Janice Wu is so beautiful and her character is so strong-willed, witty, intelligent, naughty, head-strong, independent. Zhang Yu Jian is very handsome in this and I like his character of an upright (albeit uptight), upstanding, self-righteous, incorruptible detective. The story is great until around episode 31, when things nosedive as Lan Zhi acts completely out of character and falls victim to an evil character that literally NEVER gets punished, no matter how many people they hurt. Can’t watch anymore because the problem is easily solvable, especially since LZ is supposed to be extremely intelligent & upright so that he would never submit to manipulation tactics. At least it was good up to now. Don’t think I’m missing too much because sounds like it gets increasingly ridiculous as the series goes on anyway.
I really liked this, I cried so much, the ost's in this are so good
Gosh the OSTs are so good. I think the songs go perfectly with the mood. One of the songs is so sad and makes you want to cry, I mean sad in a good way!
Why is this reviewed so harshly compared to some really terrible shows out there that hot high ratings? It’s actually entertaining despite the flaws. I found the characters very egotistical, especially these-called gods. Looking at their motivations, you understand what their underlying motives are and how they try to mask their true selves by not showing their true feelings. Seems almost every character is like that. The ML and FL’s chemistry is lukewarm at best (notice their distancing and body language). I was hoping to see the ML show off his great powers, but disappointed that never really happens. I thought the FL was bratty, annoying in that she thought the world owed her a favor, and she didn’t do anything well as she would mess everything up whereas the ML succeeded at everything (skills, etc.) Yes he’s a god, but she shouldn’t be so pathetic. Despite these flaws, and plot issues (like many things aren’t explained or followed up,) I surprisingly, still found a lot of gems and things to enjoy about it. I still enioyed watching it as it reminded me of the stories of the Greek mythology of the petty, immature gods that would pick on puny humans just because they can.
I use to think the exact same thing as you during the first few episodes. I was having headaches trying to understand…
So fascinating that you made me realize just now that the reason why I got the jokes was because I’m Asian and grew up familiar with Chinese culture (though I’m not Chinese) and watched a lot of historical Cdramas growing up as a kid because my mom and grandma had it on all the time. I’m glad you found it enjoyable anyhow, but sorry to hear that the jokes were kind of “lost in translation”. Though I don’t speak Mandarin the subs were adequate, despite my feeling of dissatisfaction at knowing that the subs probably provide 50-75% of the real meaning of the dialogue. I have started to pick up many Mandarin words from watching and because some of the words are similar to my own language and even then I could tell some of the translations were bogus.
Omg I didn’t know that I liked all her dramas until now! I’m a sucker for her method of story telling and the portrayal of the characters. In fact, I’m surprised that I like all of her works because I didn’t connect them all together until someone mentioned that she was the writer for two of them, then I learned I liked everything she’s done so far! So many dramas are so bad nowadays that I don’t like anything anymore, so I’m surprised that the ones I do like were all written by her! Lol. Will have to follow her upcoming projects!
Ikr? So hard waiting for the episodes to come out! I don’t regret starting on watching it because it’s way…
Yes, I’m very picky as well as someone who obviously has only liked 2 of the last 10 Cdramas I’ve watched and dropped a lot of kdramas and Cdramas almost immediately (after 2 or 3 epis). I’ve been watching some historical dramas by the English & US and I tend to like those more often because they are not censored to death like the Cdramas. Let’s hope this drama stays engaging as it moves so fast unlike so many so many slow boring dramas. I’m obsessed with the OST for Parallel Love! The ML’s magnetic voice and the melody just makes me so happy, filling up my heart with joy!
In addition to the great chemistry of the leads, the intelligence of the show, the extremely funny plot, the social commentary on the state of women in the world, there’s so many other reasons why I love this show, mainly the following: Su mu—He’s like a delicate beautiful flower on a breezy spring day. So gentle and indescribably fragile and strong underneath at the same time.
Hilarious personification of Bananas, oranges, and fruits has never been done like this before! Lol
Story teller group—self-effacing of screenwriters as a profession by pointing out all the cliched techniques used by writers and story tellers. Their conversations are gold!
Evil sister—cliched evil sister’s acting is just so well done that you love to hate her so much because she’s stealing the darned show with her bad girl tantrums
Second Male lead is fine as heck, smart and loyal to a fault, making sl syndrome a real thing, but not overshadowing the ml
There is tremendous growth that the ml and fl go through as they learn and go through experiences together, but they also begin to change so many others around them as well as change their own societies as a whole.
This is why it’s one of the few new dramas going on my all time favs list.
Same here and he plays different roles in all 3 so audiance wont get bored...Brilliant acting as well as looks????P.S.…
I watched the Romance of Tiger and Rose, and honestly it’s going on my all time favs list. I also watched “Just an Encore” and “Reset Life,” which were both great. I didn’t like “Intense Love” for a number of reasons, mainly because the show is hollow, with no substance and they depict the fl as a negative stereotype of women. The fl obsessed over her looks, weight, image, and is boy crazy instead of focused on family or meaningful work. While she was chasing the ml around, neglecting work, then barely eating because she’s afraid of gaining weight, I kept on thinking when is she actually going to become professional about her work instead of trying to skip her work duties to chase him around. In addition to the fl acting over the top, the ml is literally indifferent to her and doesn’t really seem to have a personality. Their characters didn’t have any growth. Don’t get me started on the second leads. Anyway, not everyone is going to like every project an actor gets involved with.
