What a trash, I quit watching when at ep 4, only char I cared about in the show died, then went on to check who killed her as I didn't want to keep watching this garbage and LOL, this has got to be one of the worst kdramas ever released. I blame netflix, nothing good comes from them.
Watching this after watching "For the Holy Guiguzi" and "Qin Dynasty Epic" in consecutive order. Fits great in the general timeline if you want to watch 3 different shows which highlight the different time periods of the Warring States period, from around the beginning(Guiguzi) to its end(Qin Dynasty Epic) and beyond(This show), but I guess most people wouldn't be able to stomach 200+ episodes, long and epic ride that's for sure.
I think the show is historically very accurate. The only made up character may be Wang Chan. Maybe they are hinting…
IIRC Guiguzi did exist, Wang Chan was just another name for him, he is regarded as the godfather of all the strategists during the warring states period.
I watched this after watching "For The Holy Guiguzi" and it fits pretty nicely timeline-wise, If anyone wants a different take on the Warring states period that doesn't focus on Qin state (but leads up to it), then I highly recommend Guiguzi!
This is a rare under-appreciated "almost" masterpiece series, a shame it isn't better known because the story is very captivating and goes places no other show like it dares to go. depicting the harsh reality of the Warring States period with no holds barred. The series mainly focuses on Zhou/Luoyi, Han, Wei, and Chu states (within the Zhou Dynasty) and their relationships/vying for power BEFORE they get swallowed up by Qin. Qin state isn't focused on at all, maybe because it's already been depicted enough through other series already. This series makes daring choices throughout with it's direction thus elevating it above it's peers. I'd say it's up there with the likes of Nirvana in Fire personally. don't get me wrong it has it's issues, some of it already mentioned in the comments/reviews but the story and vivid depiction of the lives of the characters together with convincing acting by the leads carries it through to the end.
(except for the "Duke/King" of Han, who is probably the most worthless excuse of a "King" I've ever seen and easily the most annoying character in the series!)
