"Noble Idiocy" is almost always nonsensical and out of character. It sould have it's own tag on here, so we know…
Damn, I wonder why. Maybe they don't like the word idiocy. There's already noble sacrifice or something, but I feel like Noble Idiocy describes it better haha
Can anyone recommend a similar drama where the female lead is wronged and approachrs ML with a mituve, deceives…
It's not quite the same, but Marriage Contract (https://kisskh.at/16311-marriage-contract) has a story about a FL who enters a contract marriage with the ML under somewhat false pretenses. It was pretty good, but be prepared to cry!
Hm not sure these are quite the same, but give them a look :) I went for shows with gruff, badass, tomboyish,…
They vary quite a bit in tone, so I'm genuinely not sure if you'll like them, but there's quite a range, so hopefully you'll find at least one or two that you like! <3
does anyone know dramas with a character similar to the female lead?
Hm not sure these are quite the same, but give them a look :) I went for shows with gruff, badass, tomboyish, and/or good-at-fighting female leads:
Angry Mom Bromance Coffee Prince Gokusen Hyena Mrs. Cop My Mister Nobody Knows The Guardians The Guest Top Star Yoo Baek Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo Welcome 2 Life Wild Romance
Ugh they were so lovely together -- I wish we got more time with them together after she finally came back to him! There was too much time spent on the ex in my opinion T-T
He also plays a totally different role in "Cheese in the trap". I watched "Are you human too" after that and I…
Yeah, even though I wasn't big on either Cheese In The Trap or Are You Human Too, I still thought he was amazing in both. The power of Seo Kang Joon! T-T (my eyes tearing from being blinded by his brilliant acting haha)
I love that Tae Bong doesn't get possessive or jealous over Dal Ja's friendship with Sae Do. Kdramas in the romance genre almost universally have a male protagonist who gets jealous if the female lead even talks to another man, let alone is friends with one or laughs with one or sits close with one. All the more so if said man is her ex! Most people think it's cute or evidence that he's head over heels for the female lead, but I feel like it also indicates you're not fully confident and stable in your relationship or you don't trust your significant other if you get jealous over such petty things. I'm not saying people can't ever be jealous, but seriously, it's to the point where shows with otherwise "perfect" male leads, where those leads are super nice and gentle when it comes to everything else get possessive when their girlfriend spends any time at all with anyone of the opposite sex. It's not healthy for women to only ever fraternize with their partner and no other men for the rest of their lives, and I wish kdramas would stop portraying that kind of jealousy as cute or normal for a couple deeply in love.
I understand what you mean, but I also think that the point of the "made up" story held within in the first 10…
Hm I like character-driven stories (which is why I liked this one so much as well), and I feel that Weightlifting Fairy has real characters with real lives and growth and real problems and decisions to make. They are silly, but part of that is because they're college students, and their friendship is really beautiful to watch. And part of the journey of this show is becoming less silly and realizing the things that are really important to you.
Yeah, funnily enough, I started Strong Woman for the crime aspect, but eventually lost interest in the crime and stayed for the romance. It was my first romance show, so my perspectives might have changed a bit, but I really liked how they communicated and supported each other and accepted each other for what they were. I also appreciated that the love triangle wasn't super angsty because I hate love triangles.
I liked Reply 1997 but wasn't super into 94 but LOVED 88. As the show grew, it evolved from a story about a group of youths in an era to be about a community and the ups and downs of all the members of the family. All seasons are hilarious and quite clever, but I thought 1988 had the most moving, heartwarming, and heartbreaking depictions of what a community, family, and individual go through. It's definitely one of my all time favorite shows.
Haha Big Issue is quite different from all of these (it's perhaps more like Hyena) in that it's more of a flashy, thrilling show. I liked how morally ambiguous the characters were, and I'm a sucker for a strong, confident, competent, and/or clever female lead.
I haven't seen Arthdal Chronicles, and I've only started (and then dropped) Chicago Typewriter, though I intend to come back to it. I'm not sure why, but I couldn't get into the characters. I think I got about halfway into Sungkyungkwan before dropping it -- just wasn't my type of comedy. What did you like about Arthdal and Chicago?
No, I think he is the one who earlier gave YB his magic hourglass, the same man who took YB on the boat to Yoojik…
We never saw Yoo Baek get the hourglass, right? It was just there. I thought this was a pretty underdeveloped part of the drama, and they probably could have just cut it out, honestly. I don't think it was necessary to see that to know they were meant to be together lol (sorry this is so long after you wrote your comment lol)
wow human nam shin is a total scum of the earth. i know he has to deal w so much grief and all, but he literally…
Yeah, I was actually super surprised they didn't redeem him earlier. I thought it would be like other AI/human romance shows where she would gradually fall in love with the human version, but I'm actually kind of glad they didn't fall into that cliche trap. You're right that he's super awful until literally the last 30 minutes, and I think they did that to emphasize that just having flesh and blood doesn't make you humane or "human." It was a nice idea even if it wasn't executed in the best way...
