I do. Thats why the next time they meet ( which i know they will) they will both be at a better place. It will be interesting to see how they break stereotypes to have their own happy ending.

Tian still needs to heal and forgive himself completely which requires time. Chief was a guiding star, protecting him in his journey of redemption. Once this journey comes to an end, which invariably it will, Tian did know that he had to go back. Staying any further, he was using his feelings for Chief and his love for the people of the village and the children as an escape from facing his real life. Once he had completed everything that Torfun wanted the do, it was time for him to go back. Only after he forgives himself he can use this opportunity to lead a better and responsible life. Chief being older, understood that- he had to let Tian go so that Tian does not have any regrets in the future and can find his way back to him, only for him.

Honestly, I am ok with how things have been played out. Since they decided to make this series more realistic, Tian needs to go back to complete his studies and then decide what he wants from his life. It would defy logic if he were to leave everything to stay at the village. Its tragic, yet necessary.
If they are meant to be, they will probably reconcile later.
