Wait..if you watch it till episode 5-6,you will know that his "stereotypical dad" act is actually an act for people to believe that he married her mother,so that he can be seen as the authorized owner of the house.AND she knows him,he knows her,so they are not really strangers,though Na Ri has yet to remember anything about him. And the reason he hasn't told her anything is because he doesn't want her to get involved,which is the whole reason he actually married a woman he loved like a mother,because he genuinely cared for Na Ri.

We'd like viewers to be able to identify with the emotions displayed. There's no grand metaphor. Rather than unveiling a political message, we focused on telling a story that's easy to identify with."
