Atmosphere Over Story
Honestly, I was a bit disappointed with this k-drama. The concept really intrigued me, especially since it was compared to The Price of Confession, which I enjoyed a lot. At first, I liked how the drama focused on small details and symbolism, which made watching engaging, but around episode 3 the pacing began to drag with slow and sometimes boring dialogue. I understand it’s meant to be a slow burn, and since that isn’t my preference, I was hoping for a stronger payoff by the end, but the twists did not work for me and threw off the overall vibe. I did appreciate the symbolism and how the drama showed that people from very different backgrounds can end up living similar lives, and the OST was a standout with its eerie and atmospheric sound. The acting, especially from the main characters, felt realistic and strong, but the lack of suspense, too many unanswered questions, and underused potential of the main setting made the story feel weaker than it should have been. Overall, Lies Hidden in My Garden had great atmosphere and performances, but its pacing and execution made it a disappointing watch for me.
