Omg I wish I could leave a voice note to express my exact feelings reading this. I was gonna leave a review of my own but you pretty much summed it up. As a stand alone, I guess it’d be considered a masterpiece but it’s hard to consider it one since it is after all an adaptation. Go Ahead remains my top Cdrama and i went into this remake with little to no expectations tbh. I enjoyed every moment and tried not to compare it until the time skip. it was just soooo hard to not compare.
One of the major things I hated in this was the way San Ha’s trauma was basically overlooked? EXCUSE ME, his sisters death and his mother’s abandonment TRAUMATIZED this boy. HOW do you just sum up that trauma with insomnia??? And to make it worse it wasn’t even addressed much. I’m to believe all his pain was erased from just having a shared drink with his brother and talking about it once?
OH AND DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE FACT THAT THEY MADE HIM BEG HIS MOTHER?!! She had zero remorse.
Honestly that brought my rating down to a 7.5 cos that was a major plot that needed a massive resolve not just half an episode! I’ll be leaving a review once I get all my thoughts in order 😅

I've just finished this. It is a beautiful tale of friendship, loss, reuniting and discovering real happiness in each other. It gives you the feeling of nostalgia
However, I saw comments here comparing this to Go Ahead and I just wanna say, it is nothing like GO AHEAD. I found myself skipping through some episodes, falling asleep here and there due to how slow it got at times and ngl, it was a show I could let play in the bg for a bit and not feel like I missed anything.
As an avid Go Ahead lover, this show doesn't compare to it in anyway. It;s a good enough show but if you're considering watching it cos you're looking for something like Go Ahead, this is not it.

Honestly the anime is very worth it. Don’t think about how long it is and just start, you won’t be able to stop. you can start on Netflix (if you already have a sub) and then if you’re really enjoying it and want more and don’t mind paying for it, then go to crunchyroll to continue. If you don’t have a Netflix sub and can pay for a subscription, I suggest watching on Crunchyroll fully and to get the most out of the show, please watch with subs not English dubs 😂
it’s an open ending (not for the couple but for the plot). It’s a feel good series so not a sad ending or anything, it’s just the ending seems like an opening for a second season. Go ahead and watch!

Watched everything on this list except Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai and enjoyed each and every one of them but I can say the only ones that are really on par or “better” than Jack ‘O’ Frost are Eternal Yesterday (Eien no Kinou) and Life Senjou no Bokura. I’m a BIG Utsukushii Kare lover but if we’re to really break it down, the story telling/flow is a little weak compared to Jack ‘O’ Frost…and they had 2 seasons to really make it the bomb.

I suggest watching her in The Untamed. She really carried her character “Wen Qing”. She was also in Immortal Samsara and other older shows.
I haven’t started this show yet but I have no doubts she’ll be a delight to watch again.
