I've been rewatching this drama for the nth time and I still enjoy the slow burn. To think that Xie Wei and Jiang Xuening aren't even my favorite characters played by Zhang Linghe and Bai Lu. I also finished the novel so I had a deeper understanding of the characters.

Mo Shu Bai's novels are pretty interesting. I might read some works from now on. The only thing I am looking forward to now are the leads rumored modern drama. I hope we get a confirmation. The potential of the two were wasted here. 😭
The production team totally ruined the story for the SRQ arc. Even the SRQ that is nicely written by Mo Shu Bai is ruined to the core in the drama. Pei Wenxuan is dumbdown and they made Li Rong undecisive. I really can't get the mindset of the director and the screenwriter. Changes are needed for the adaptation, I know. But if you watch the drama even as a non novel reader you will see how confusing the story is. I watched only for the leads now. Talented people are wasted in this drama. I feel bad for Zhao Jinmai and Zhang Linghe the most. 😭

in the novel SRQ will rebel but he will be defeated. But PWX won't kill him. He is too good of a person. LC will ascend the throne. LR and PWX will get married again. A grand wedding. LC will eventually abdicate the throne after some years. LR will be Regent Empress (?) and PWX will be Prime Minister. LR & PWX will have a daughter & son too. LC and QZZ will have a daughter. Extra chapters are heartbreaking I don't want to elaborate.

Honestly, I think they are eating this in whole. They've cut out so many details that it barely feels the same…
there is a character interview released before the drama aired. the screenwriter is talking about SRQ as a pitiful character and so on. i don't know if that is already a hint. but there are also some parts in the drama that is supposed to be PWX lines but went to SRQ. 😅
if people get offended by the boat scene don't argue with them. it is a matter of belief and views in life. do not bash them. there are people experiencing things we never would understand unless we experience it ourselves. be mindful.
