Both shows have very scary ghosts, not just the type that asks for help, but the type that can be sent after people to drive them insane or to kill themselves; they also have living magic users who are able to use ghosts for their own purposes, and include tattoos that symbolize or grant supernatural protection to the one tattooed. Both also have a detective main character who is serious and very dedicated to their job, and have lost a sibling. And, of course, both are LGBTQUIA+.
