I completely agree! The humour is really well done, too. It’s quite theatrical, the kind of humour you’d usually see on stage, but it works so well with the story.
Do you happen to know any other Esther Yu dramas with a similar sense of humour, or that are just as funny? I really loved her in this kind of role and would love to see more of her in it!
I just wanted to stop by and say thank you, Esther Yu! Thanks to you, I’ve finally managed to finish a drama with episodes longer than 15 minutes after a month and a half. 😭
Yes, I’m aware of the flaws I’ve Fallen for You has, but I absolutely loved her performance in it. Now I just want to watch more of her dramas.
So I apologise in advance because you’ll probably be seeing more comments from me around here as I work my way through her dramas. 🙇♀️
Does it have plot holes and are the plot twists predictable from the very beginning? Yes. Do I care? Not one bit, because I was so hooked that I couldn’t stop watching until I finished it. 😂
Synopsis kinda sounds like 13 reasons why, i personally wouldn’t watch if that were the case, but there’s…
As for the rumour about Cheng Lei playing the ML, I honestly find it hard to believe. Gregor is more of a supporting character, while Gerri is the only main character in the book, so I can’t really see someone as popular as Cheng Lei taking on a role with so little importance to the overall story.

Honestly, I really don’t think they’re alike at all. If they stay true to the book, For Every Solution, a Problem is a humorous story about a woman trying to get her life back on track, while 13 Reasons Why is a much darker story. They’re totally different in tone and subject matter. But I’d definitely recommend giving the book a read! I really enjoyed it and think it’s worth checking out.
Hi! Since I read the book many years ago and it was one of my favorite books for a long time, I thought I’d share a few thoughts that might help clear up some of the questions I’ve seen people asking since Zhao Lusi was announced as the lead in the adaptation. Of course, this is just my personal take, and things could turn out differently in the drama!
1. About the ML
The story doesn’t really have an ML in the traditional sense, as the female lead is very much at the center of the story and everyone else plays a supporting role. There is a love interest, of course, but personally, I wouldn’t expect the actor playing him to necessarily be a big name. If the adaptation stays relatively faithful to the book, his role isn’t particularly prominent, so I’m not sure it would be the kind of part that attracts a very popular actor.
If I had to guess who would play the love interest, I’d probably go with an actor who usually takes on supporting roles and whose lead roles have perhaps only been in short lenght dramas. Someone like Lai Wei Ming or Wang Zu Yi (I’m using them as examples, though I know it won’t be them, as they’re currently filming other dramas).
2. About the episode count
Personally, I think 10 episodes could be enough to tell the story well without leaving out anything essential. I’d say 12 episodes would probably be the upper limit before there’s a risk of adding extra subplots or straying too far from the original story. Since adaptations sometimes expand the source material quite a bit, I’d actually be happy with a shorter drama that stays as close to the book as possible.
Of course, I expect some changes will be necessary to adapt the story to the Chinese cultural context and meet censorship requirements, so it probably won’t be a completely faithful adaptation. Still, I’m curious to see how they approach it!
I’ve watched the first episode of all four stories now, and I have to say, they pleasantly surprised me! I didn’t have particularly high expectations since most of the cast are still relatively new actors and each story has a different, lesser-known director, but I decided to give them a chance because I really enjoy this kind of short-form storytelling.
Since the four stories are interconnected, I’d recommend watching them in this order to get a better understanding of the overall story:
1. This Cold Palace Isn't So Cold (Hou Ben) 2. Cat Legend (Bao Jieyi) 3. Baby Wei's Zone (Wei Xiao) 4. 8 Days a Week (Zhou Ziyi)
My favorite so far is definitely Cat Legend! I really enjoyed the direction and editing, and Bao Jieyi’s performance was another pleasant surprise. For her first drama, she did a great job!
No, the one premiering on October 11 is Sonder I Am Not NPC on Douyin, but MDL hasn’t created a page for it…
I haven’t been able to read it yet. I’ve tried looking for it, but I haven’t managed to find the full novel in English. I guess it’ll be easier to find once the drama is officially announced.

You’ll probably end up being right hahaha, because I came across a TikTok clip from a Zhao Lusi livestream where she said she was really looking forward to acting in this drama and that it was the one she was most excited to do out of all the ones she’d bought the rights to. I guess she chose Farewell Letters first because it’ll take less time to film since it’s a modern drama, and it’s probably just easier to handle overall.
