From what I've seen c-fans have been more accepting in general towards Linghe than Xiaowen because Linghe was rumoured for quite a while before Xiaowen's name even came up.. but I feel like Xie Lian was always going to be a bit of a cursed role because they were harsh to Ding Chengxin too when people thought it would be him...
I definitely understand people had their own expectations from the novel! And there were so many casting rumours for both Hua Cheng and Xie Lian that people would naturally become more fond of one actor in their head. I don't think people bashing the drama here are doing it with malice but rather concern.. still, I wonder about the intentions of some others who are being especially cruel on places like Weibo and Douyin where it seems like it can get a bit more personal towards the actors than the production. :(

But he's also playing Taxian-jun at the same time and it was talked about how he wouldn't so much as eat to get his mindset right for TXJ. I think the role is actually quite complex when you consider the nuances of playing the same character but in 3 separate ways.
All of the crew said that Feiyu did a really good job and his aura on set was amazing from Day 1 so I think we can be excited about his performance! :)

After a long time, I rewatched this week and it took me back to that summer.. the show gave us everything, from the heart-touching moments to comedy to thrill..! ❤ I definitely won't forget this drama for a long time.

We can see through the volume of fansite photos that the drama still has a large following so I hope fans will drown out the stuff like these...
