I don't get it why Sompat's son is missing... The purpose of Snow to the son!? That's the main point I wanna know!…
It's been a while since I watched the film, but I believe that the son and the daughter were in this scheme together. It was revealed later in the movie that Sompat was gay and hinted that he may have abused his son. Snow's dad isn't any better either, as you can tell how obsessed he is. So these two kids planned the whole thing to get revenge on their parents, creating the 'perfect crime' while remaining innocent. The plot takes inspiration from Keigo Higashino's novel "Byakuyako," which has a few movie/drama adaptations (you can look up on dramalist). If you're a big mystery fan, you can see other easter eggs from literature and film.
It’s an open ending, NOT a sad ending. In the last episode, she is reminded of what Lou said. His blood healed her, and so her blood would be able to save her master. The extras showed that both lived.
Drama ending and novel ending are different. I'll make another comment below with spoilers on both.
BE: In the drama, the two leads did not end up together because old emperor convinced Zhi Wei that her past as a fallen princess would be a burden to Ning Yi so she died and Ning Yi focused on ruling his country.
Don't really understand why the endings had to be so different, and the drama ending was too rushed and made very little sense. I would have accepted it if it wasn't so rushed, but then it could be because of all the weird editing, cutting scenes, and dubbing over dialogues thing with SARFT.
From what I heard, this drama apparently only covered book 1 loosely. So hopefully there would be additional coverage on book 2 and 3 with the same cast. One thing that bothered me was how the second leads got more screen time than the first leads but that's usually a problem with most Chinese dramas. We just have to deal with it.
AND I heard was that the cute trio love triangle wasn't in the novel and that the two foxes were actually a couple. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Just finished watching this movie. The first reason I watch it cuz Yang Yang but the movie made me hate him, only…
It's been a while since I watched this film but iirc in the beginning of the film LE talks about how love words are whispered in the left ear because it is closer to the heart or something like that. She wanted someone to say them to her someday despite the fact that she is deaf on the leaf ear. ZY whispered "I love you" to LE in the end of the film. That's why the title "Left Ear" is so significant. It's also quite sweet because we see flashbacks near the end of how ZY had a crush on LE since start of high school. To be honest, I prefer ZY over Yang Yang's character because he fell for LE for who she is while LE always felt that she had to change her 'good girl' self for Yang Yang's character to like her. Great film over all.
HE: The novel's ending is better explained in this link: https://ninja-reflection.com/2018/09/24/rise-phoenixes-novel-ending/
