if u have watched the episode 18 preview they showed he yan's master liu buwang and the princess mengji when they were both young. he yan's master played a great role in the war against the wutuo and was killed during the battle. liu buwang and princess mengji's love story is just tragic and so heartbreaking. i'm not ready to hear he yan's cry 🥲

There are some changes but the important scenes were there, rebirth and some characters were removed.

He got to know when they went back to Cloud Pavillion to visit the Youhua Fairy, it was her who told Xiao Jue about He Rufei's (He Yan) real identity as a woman. She asked Xiao Jue if she was the same girl they were with in the past during their academy days and Xiao Jue asked what was she talking about and he asked Fei Nu to tell Luan Ying(?) to investigate everything about He Rufei.

Also, the Youhua Fairy was the one who made Xiao Jue know about the current He Yan's feelings about him—from the way she looks at Xiao Jue.

After the investigation when he got to know the truth about He Rufei's (He Yan), at Chapter 214 when Jiang Jao visited He Yan to give him her sword, he encountered Xiao Jue and he told him that He Yan's swordmanship is exquisite and superior, not inferior to the Flying Phoenix General Feihong. That's where Xiao Jue put it all together.

Chapter 215 (I bookmarked this bcs it's one of my fave scene) he asked Chiwu (they removed him in the drama) to tell He Yan to get his sword—the Drinking Autumn Sword from his master Lu Daichuan—after she retrieved the sword someone attacked her and she used the Drinking Autumn to fight the masked guy, after breaking the masked guy sword into half, he revealed himself and it was Xiao Jue, he used that opportunity to test He Yan's swordmanship and to confirm if she was really the Flying Phoenix General.

I never cried so bad until I read that part, it was so heartbreaking and emotional. Xiao Jue even said sorry bcs he didn't recognized her soon. 🥺

I love it, ep 1 and 2 may not be the best but dang ep 3 to 5 is just so good, it makes me want to see more of the eps. I'm so glad they didn't change He Yan's shamelesness. The fights choreography satisfied my expectation. Although the early transitions during ep 1 and 2, and some of ep 3 could've been smoother but alas it is better in ep 4 and 5. Let's go He Yan, to your journey towards revenge and justice. 🫶
