All I have to say after watching this is I had an amazing time watching so sad that it ended. I really recommend this to anyone thinking of watching it don't pay attention to the overall rating watch for yourself because people rated it low simply for minimal romance don't let that stop you from watching an amazingly suspenseful drama.

seriously I'm so sad I just finished the show and it was so good and well done it's a shame people are trying to bring its rating down just because of minimal romance.

I mean do you want to watch this or not the romance is a really subtle plotline to this drama it has it's moments but it's very few don't let that stop you from watching tho this is truly such a brilliant drama

Oh I know he doesnt have much acting experience so I was actually gonna be on the lookout for his drama that is about to come out and based on that I was gonna see if he can portray the ml here right. If his acting isn’t that well that I hope a better actor is picked for the ml preferably someone actually younger than tian xiwei. I also am lookinf forward to where the mask ends to see if tian xiwei can also deliver such a complex fl because in my opinion the fl in where the mask ends seems just as complex so I’m really looking forward.

Honestly that's what I've been thinking too I feel like we are now focusing on him becoming one with tianxiang sect it's as if he lost his purpose I hope after He Manzhi's storyline we will finally get back to the revenge.

I'm really shocked that the ratings keep dropping I've heard it is because of the lack of romance but is it just me or there is quite a good amount of romance. Of course it isn't really a strong part of the plotline but it is very much there in a subtle manner and that subtlety is what makes it so good. The past few eps have been really good as they have diving into jiang feiyan a bit more I've been really curious about her storyline. I wish people didn't care so much about romance because as a person who steers clear from republican dramas this has had my full attention since ep 1 the plot is really fresh and new I haven't seen anything like it in recent years. So I recommend you to still tune into this even fi you only care about romance the romance is still just as good.

I come back to all kinds of dramas the ones I like and the ones I don’t you will see me a whole year later in the comments of a drama reminiscing I always go back. What really promoted me to leave this comment was because on tiktok I saw an edit about the “qunshan squad” and that prompted me to go back to this page and reminisce the reason why I dropped it. You have no right to say my comment has no value to MDL because someone could gain knowledge from it.

I am giving my opinion and letting people know that if this what they were looking for this drama will not provide that for them. Call me a hater all you want but I am just giving the feeling I felt watching this drama. The whole point of mdl is to give people different perspectives before they watch something and I think our generation was a poor representation of friendship. But then again that’s just my opinion and im just giving my perspective on things.

You completely missed the point of this drama if you were watching simply for the romance this drama really wasn't for you the whole point was about the family dynamics and how each member of the Zhuang and Lin family go through different struggles and how they push through.

It seems your main argument is that how could the ml and fl not even kiss but if you really look into the cultural aspects of the drama when they were in university because it wasn't encouraged to date they couldn't go full blown pda making out every second. I do agree with the fact that I was confused that they didn't even have a proper kiss scene when they got married but the crazy part is that their relationship was so good to me it didn't even click that they didn't have a kiss scene until Zhuang Tunan and Li Jia had theirs.

You are going batshit crazy on the dad but what you don't understand is that this drama is supposed to be realistic and relatable. There are many deadbeat dads like Zhuang Chaoying in this world and they are also showing that back then filial piety was an extremely important thing that was ingrained in a lot of peoples minds. And how dare you hate on the mother and call her controlling she wasn't being controlling she was worried for her daughter. Though Lin Dongzhe is a good man he did put Xiaoting in a very difficult and risky situation is it a crime for a mother to not want her daughter to go through hardship and wish for her to have a smooth and happy marriage? I really think you watched this with your eyes closed yes their reaction to her marriage was a bit over the top but how would you feel if your daughter eloped and you found out a whole year later.

This drama was an incredible watch with very fun and relatable dynamics if the fact that there was no kiss scene between the ml and fl really affected you watching this you shouldn't have even picked it up because you completely didn't understand the point of the drama I can't understand in what why no kiss scene made the drama look unnatural. Instead of spreading such hateful comments with no understanding of what you're watching just simply put this in your dropped list and go about your day.

what's too much? the plot twists are in my opinion very straightforward the ml's identity was the only slightly confusing plotline but other then that they give it to you in a very straightforward way it's not too hard to comprehend

I’ll be honest the main reason why I didn’t enjoy this and couldn’t continue was because the friend group in this drama wasn’t truly a friend group. I am the type of girl that loves group friendships seeing it develop seeing all the different dynamics I love that. it makes the show really fun alongside the romance. However sadly our generation did not give that it gave jiang qiaoxi only being friends with them because yingtao was friends with them. He never truly saw them as friends just an extension of yingtao he never really wanted a bond with them he just wanted yingtao and they were always around her so he was like why not.

This is why I don’t really appreciate people making edits calling them the “qunshan squad” and including jiang qiaoxi because I have seen many more friend groups portrayed in a beautiful manner. If we are just talking about those 5 then yeah that was a real friendship but the moment you add jiang qiaoxi the edit becomes pointless cause those weren’t his friends. Maybe it was also because I watched this after watching always home which was a true friend group where everyone was actually friends with one another and the ml and sml both liking the fl didn’t ruin the friendship and make things awkward.

I decided to drop this they baited me into thinking I was going to watch an empowering and smart fl just for her to do the dumbest and most selfish thing ever. Watching this alongside the prophet I can't believe this slop is at an 8.3 while a prophet is only at an 8.0. I t is truly a shame I had really high hopes for t his drama but the writing is just so badly done how can I enjoy it they suddenly made Xie Qingyuan a idiotic character when throughout the show we have seen that she is always one step ahead and thinks deeply before making any moves how could they make her do such a stupid thing like marrying the sml just to bring his family down in the name of her mother. The Xie Qingyuan from the earlier eps would never do that.

just finished todays ep and wow these 2 eps were probably the most shocking to me it was just hit after hit I'm really confused about one thing tho so the ml is Wang Jiaxian and is just faking being Shangguan Chenming? They really threw me off with that plotline cause at first he isn't Wang Jiaxian but then they turn around and show you how he plotted with Zhang Dancheng to make them think that he is the sect masters son. So in reality he isn't right? anyways this drama is insanely good I can't believe it is only at an 8.0.
