RUN!
I honestly don’t know how to process this drama because it feels like I’ve been tricked. Hoodwinked. Bamboozled. I walked in thinking I was about to get a rich, layered historical romancebut what I got was a fever dream of recycled plots and the world’s most committed gaslighting session from the writers.
Scores:
Plot: 0/10 (actually, -100 for emotional damages)
Acting: 7/10 (give them a new project ASAP)
Chemistry: 6/10 (cute but not legendary)
Overall: 5/10 (and that's me being GENEROUS)
The start was solid. Interesting premise, family dynamics, and of course, the promise of an arranged marriage trope (my kryptonite). I was READY.
But somewhere around the middle, the drama yeeted its own premise out the window and just started freestyling.
Like, I swear the writers had a dartboard of random conflicts and were just throwing darts while giggling. "Murder accusations? Cool. Fake pregnancy? Yup. Random jealousy about events that never even happened? Perfect.
Just toss it in, no one will notice.”
EXCEPT I NOTICED. I NOTICED EVERY DAMN TIME.
And what kills me is that the leads deserve better. Wallace Chung? Tan Songyun? Serving expressions and emotional range on a platter. Their chemistry? Cute, wholesome, not life-changing but absolutely the glue holding this chaos together.
But chemistry alone cannot save a show that structurally collapses like a badly built IKEA chair.
I cannot stress this enough: the plot is not just bad, it’s insulting. Like imagine reading a map, and halfway through the journey, the map redraws itself and gaslights you into believing you misread it. THAT’S what this drama does. It manufactures conflict out of thin air, stretches it for episodes, then resolves it like nothing happened. Rinse, repeat, cry.
Yes, the costumes were fine. Yes, the OST was fine. but that's about it.
