I kind of agree and I feel like their chemistry was just okay. I think lots of people compare this drama to reply 1997/1988 and pachinko. those series have much better acting and storyline. I’m in my 30s, so I’ve seen the OG dramas too.
I feel frustrated by WLGYT because IU plays annoying characters - both Aesun and Geummyeong. I relate to their actions but I know the producers are forcing the sad moments too much, for example what happened in e6 annoys me to no end as a parent. it was straight up incompetence and bad parenting.
Overall I really enjoyed watching this drama. The characters are very loveable. The whole sales team is just hilarious, I loved seeing their interactions. There are a lot of cultural references and common phrases borrowed from Korean/Japanese pop culture that really fit right in. The story is for the most part well thought out, though there were moments that felt unnecessarily dragged out, and I wish they got to the point. Especially with how slow-minded and passive Xing Ren's character is..
Kai Er and ZiQi's mother's actions were very infuriating. Towards the end, it started feeling like a typical rich guy, poor girl drama. I wish they didn't rush the ending so much, it would have been nice to know what the two were up to in the year that they were apart. It is very unrealistic to not see each other for a year and still have the same feelings..
they did a pretty good job with the movies, although there was a lack of chemistry between the 2 characters.. i know in the manga they spend a lot more time showing how the 2 become closer & closer, and because they dont show that in the movie, it seems a little weird that nanami is still willing to wait for him (not that realistic if you think about it). still enjoyed it overall.

I dropped this drama after the first 3 episodes because I couldn't stand Ella's over exaggerated acting as well…
i remember laughing a LOT in the TW version, because the japanese version had such weird humour (typical of japanese people i guess). i enjoyed both versions (watched the japanese ver. first). i think it takes awhile for die hard fans to enjoy the same storyline when it's brought forth in other languages. definitely give it another chance though :)
