I liked the first episode, it's slow and focused on the two leads' interactions, nothing to write home about but it's nice for a short web drama if you're into this kind of aesthetic or if you like either of the actors. I really like phs, he's great at those in love looks and as usual he's good here. To me sohee is okay, I think she's cute and bright in some places whereas in others that requires better acting (like the drunk scenes) she's clearly not really up to the mark and awkward. But I think they have a nice chemistry and since it's four eps I'll probably keep watching it.
this drama is very silly and fun and definitely nothing new but somehow the first episode was very entertaining and kept me wanting more. I think Kim Sejeong does a great job with the (clearly intentional) cringe comedy and she and Seol Inah are so fun and adorable together. It would be one thing if we had a lot of dramas like this, that would be annoying, but we don’t. So when something like this comes along once in a while it kind of feels fresh in its own way and I think the cast (mainly the girls) help a lot.
also idk why people are complaining about how silly and cliche it is, like yeah but if you saw the teasers that’s exactly what it presented itself as, it never tried to act like it’s going to be a drama with a deeper point so idk why you guys bother 😭 sometimes people just like watching silly light romcoms
Then this is not for you. Respectfully* as you are not able to connect with main leads. How can you say there is…
That's not an opinion it's a weird thing to say to op when they said they liked the show they just didn't feel one aspect of it. we're here to discuss dramas and see everyone's perspectives not shut down anyone who happens to have a different view.
And you adding random stuff to your original comment doesn't make it better either. Op didn't say they didn't connect to the leads they just said they don't feel romantic chemistry between them. You know it's possible to appreciate characters without shipping them right?
Honestly I'm not feeling any chemistry between them Story is so good but I don't touch with their chemistry like…
I agree they don't have any romantic chemistry right now to me either even though I do like their bond and what they mean to each other. My issue is that at the same time the show was laying on the romantic overtones thick in this episode which made me a bit uncomfortable. I def feel I'm not on the same page as them in this aspect. They keep having the characters say things that indicate they won't have a romance while heedo is still a high schooler but then they go on to have them look and act with each other in ways that would be interpreted as romantic in any other scenario. Feels a bit like they're trying to have their cake and eat it too.
For me personally, I'm not actively against a romance developing WHEN she's an adult, but I also don't care if that makes sense? like even if they just stayed platonic throughout (which I know they won't) I'd be fine with it. I still love and enjoy the drama regardless. And I hate how a lot of watchers seem to be focusing all their attention on the potential romance between them when there are so many other things to appreciate about the drama.
those commenters is the kind of people i hate the most irl. always putting their judgments high on pedestal, and…
exactly then all the comments would be about how much they love the bromance and how the female characters if any are unnecessary and annoying, they only want to watch the guys, blah blah
those commenters is the kind of people i hate the most irl. always putting their judgments high on pedestal, and…
For real. They have these weird conservative beliefs and expectations it's just embarrassing to read these comments in 2022. They try to act like it's some issue with the characterization but that's not it lol
All the people on here trying to pass moralistic judgements on how 39 year old women should act in their personal…
No but can't believe some of you are like "no wonder these women are single at 39" like some of us are okay with being single at whatever age.. shocker! None of the characters in the show are also crying about being single so seems like they are okay with it? So I don't know why you guys have a problem lmao. A lot of you want to play moral police so badly over here.
That being said I thought the ep itself was okay, not spectacular or anything but let's see how it goes? My expectations are def kind of lowered, not because I have a problem with any of the characters or their 'decorum' issues but because just the overall ep didn't feel too impressive idk why.
As for the characters, Chanyoung's situation is obviously not ideal but it's not like such things never happen, I do like that she herself realized her hypocrisy and how pathetic she was being and that Mijo always made a point to call her out for it. Mijo's plot, I didn't hate their chemistry as much as the rest of you guys I thought it was okay lol no strong feelings about it. Joohee is probably the one we know the least about so far so no comments there.
oh my god thank you so much 😭 i've been trying to tell people that for two weeks and they really just don't…
It's just too annoying 😭 first of all there are quite a few people on mdl who have an attitude about romcoms in general (like if you hate the very concept of cliches and predictability idk why you're here... The whole point of a good romcom is to take existing cliches and tropes and craft them into something engaging and no one's here for some crazy plot twists) and on top of that if the female lead DARES to have some unlikable characteristics sometimes like any normal human being would then that's it 😭
right! they are stuck with the kind female lead trope
Right and the drama isn't trying to paint her as a perfect person despite her flaws, the writing and the acting in the past four episodes have already done a great job of establishing her as a complex character who is flawed but still deserving of our understanding and sympathy. I can understand being annoyed if the writing or acting is flat but I'm just not seeing that here.
Not to obsess over the rating but there's no reason it should have dropped after ep 3 and 4, they were both excellent and did a fantastic job of capturing the angst of unresolved feelings and kept you immersed throughout. The same old complaints about the female lead being bitchy or whatever are so boring please grow up 😭 People in comments below have already elaborated why I just don't have the energy. It's 2021 why can't we allow women to be flawed and grow from their mistakes instead of just calling them bitches for being human lol. The narrative clearly is not trying to pass her off as perfect either so idk what's the problem. The drama is supposed to be about their growth as well so let it happen?
Honestly from the flashbacks Seung Yoo had at the first few episodes I thought he was abused by the university…
Oh by abuse I meant his family, like I’d classify that as a form of abuse cos clearly they were willing to push him to any extent so he would get the results they wanted. Even if it’s because they just wanted him to “lead a different life from them” their methods weren’t acceptable.
LMAO, its Kim Eun Seok project. No wonder SHK accepted it as soon as possible. And actually its a good opportunity…
Idk if it’ll quite work the same way though I feel audiences have changed their outlook a bit since then but let’s see! It’s not like her usual types of plots also so that’s another thing. I feel she actually does romance well while this one isn’t going to be a romance, even if it has romance I doubt it’ll be the plot focus. DOTS was a product of its time IMO, I have a soft spot for it and I think there are things it did well but if they made it in 2021 I doubt I would like it tbh. And with Goblin I could just never get past the concept of Gong Yoo’s character being in love with a literal high schooler it was just too weird 🥴 Eternal Monarch was just terrible and panned by everyone as it deserved. Mr Sunshine is actually fantastic and an incredible cast line up too but yeah it isn’t an easy watch. And I’m sure there was a ghostwriter involved I’m not going to believe she wrote that lol 😭
I agree with you in the last part , like ? Why would he want to act with hae kyo , i don't think he will gain…
It’s true 😭 I guess it’s just cos of the idea of the prestige associated with a KES-SHK drama but IMO it’s still not a great reason, viewers in sk are def tiring of shk because of her performance in nwbu so I can’t imagine they’ll be too hyped for her next project. Let’s see worst case it’s an eight episode drama and he will undoubtedly be the best thing about it but I do wish he’d spend his time on something better

This was a cute first episode though I really liked it!
