ML Pei is actually the 5th prince of the current dynasty, but was brought up to believe he was the prince of the previous dynasty. The FL emperor is the princess of the previous dynasty but brought up as the Prince of the current dynasty. They were swapped as babies in the revolt because the previous dynasty empress wanted her eunuch admirer to bring up a male heir to restore their dynasty to the throne in revenge. In the end ML wouldn't reveal the truth because it would have meant the emperor would have been killed if she was revealed yo be previous dynasty heir.
Day-to-day, down to earth cases. It focuses on normal everyday policing in a suburban district, but they're very human stories and how the little things can make a big difference. Love this point!
