The webtoon actually explains all the cons you listed. The side couple in the webtoon gets resolved and they end up together but it’s way more complex than what’s shown in the drama. Also for the ‘gay awakening’ the webtoon explains that so incredibly well because Wonyoung originally only dated girls and struggles a lot in the webtoon to resolve his feelings for TaeJoon because he doesn’t understand them. The drama is basically a PG version of the webtoon which is 18+. I personally think they’re both great. It’s just the webtoon is way better at explanation and more in depth things. A lot of things happen in the webtoon that does not happen in the drama. I also rated the story low because in comparison to the webtoon it lacks in substance.

I think Book overacts because the character is like that. I find it pretty tolerable actually despite it being childish. Remember that the character of Cher went through a whole lot like losing people he loved and helping them too. Maybe it’s the characters front to hide the true self? Idk. Also Cher is supposed to be in his early 20s since he’s in his last year of college. But I like ForceBook as an acting pair despite a bunch of people only watching just because of Force. They both equally I think did very well in this. I’ve seen worse bls than this. Like way worse. So this in comparison is nowhere near that bad.
