beautiful elements, falls short as a whole
i fell in love with this drama from the first episode, not only for its amazing cast but its soundtrack and cinematography. unfortunately, the storyline fell short for the most part. what kept me watching at first was the romance, and i'm not usually a romance fan, but i loved the buildup of their relationship - unfortunately, as soon as they got together, i started enjoying the show a lot less. i was looking forward to their awkward early days, which they didn't show us at all as they immediately did a time skip and hardly showed us their relationship after that. yes, i understand romance was not the main focus of this show, but they failed to provide a substitute to keep the audience engaged in the second half. it was just running through court cases with very little happening in between. i loved the friend group in this drama perhaps more than i loved the hospital playlist crew (sorry, hot take), and i loved seeing them all discover and follow their dreams at the end, but it felt very forced and unrealistic that they all did it at the same time. also as someone who is fluent in korean and watches without subtitles, the line delivery was very stilted and awkward quite often. this isn't on the actors but the directors, as i've seen all of these actors shine in other works.
