I am aware of what the unconscious mind is, but thanks ever so much for the Wikipedia definition. Nothing boils Freud down to a sentence or two better than Wikipedia. But you are contradicting yourself right there. If a person watches a drama and says I want a man just like Goo Jun Pyo, that's not unconscious or subliminal, that's active. That's witnessing a behavior and deciding upfront that is what you want. And hey, who am i to judge what people want in their lives?? My problem with your general theory is that your unconscious plays a huge role in your life. If I or any of the people you assume fall under this, unconsciously wanted something like that, it would be in our lives in some way or form, not just dramas. I honesty have forgotten why I entered this conversation, though I'm next to nearly positive it wasn't to discuss the role of the id in our daily lives. I stand by my point that people can watch cliches in dramas and not necessarily crave those cliches in actuality. People exist that can watch things for entertainment purposes without wanting painful experiences in our lives.

It is quite a bit harder to get around here without a car. My boyfriend and I have been sharing one car for the past 7 years and it's tedious! Public transportation here is ridiculously awful. But the cost of living here in Texas is soooo much lower than most other states! And we have no state income tax, which I personally love :p I work at an accounting office, and we have lots of clients from other states, and their state income taxes make me cringe!
Anywho, I tend to babble a lot :p Let me know if you are able to get into Missing You from the adult part of the show! I think all this talking about it has me wanting to go rewatch it tonight!

Oh yes, that was utterly miserable watching! I hadn't seen it coming at all. I mean, I knew something bad had to happen cause it was all way too cute the two of them together for them to be separated for so long, but when it happened, I was shocked! But Jung Woo does an AMAZING job of trying to heal her once he comes across her again. If I were you, I would just read a recap of the rest of the childhood stuff and start right with the adult section :)
I was born and raised in Texas, and there is almost nothing that would convince me to move out of this state :) I have a couple of friends in NYC, and I don't think I could handle all that cold!

Seriously, if you can get past the childhood stuff and get to the adult stuff, it really does pick up! I mean, it's still sad and melodramatic, but especially once Jung Woo and Soo Yeon meet as adults it gets so tense and dramatic and fantastic :) The cast is so incredibly epic, and even when the storyline gets bogged down in sadness, you have someone coming along to lighten things up :)

Howdy ;) Dear god, that is a nice picture of Hyun Bin in your profile! I almost didn't even recognize him :)

Your statement was cookie cutter. "so why ppl watch the same things over and over? because unconsciously they crave for something like that." Generalized statements like that don't work. You can't truly know the mind of another individual, so I won't waste time saying that none of my friends on MDL think this way. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of them don't, and it's offensive to say that people (including me, since I fall under your generalized statement as well) watch the dramas we watch because we secretly crave being beaten/fainting/being yelled at/treated liked dirt/and having our men get hit for us. Sure, are there people that subconsciously think that? Dollars to donuts, there are. I'm just saying you can't paint everyone with that brush. There really are people who can enjoy something in the fictional world without subconsciously desiring that in our real world. From your comments, I have a feeling English isn't your first language, so I do apologize if I am misinterpreting what you are trying to get across.

Come to MDL and get psychoanalyzed! Always fun when someone tells you that you watch dramas cause you secretly crave to be beaten :) you're soooo right, we (and by we I mean people who love cliched dramas) can't possibly be happy with our lives the way they are. I guess I should tell the love of my life, the boy I've been with for the past 7 years who has never once laid a hand on me that he needs to start bringing in the regular beatings, rescue me from drowning every other day and scream at me for no reason otherwise I can't be happy.

Lyna!! I finally started PP! I have never hated a character so instantly as I hate the girl's dad!!!! The way he talked to the mom made me want to murder him within seconds!!! What an absolute jerk!!!!!!! You know, I've seen quite a few dramas with that guy in them, and he never plays a nice guy!!

Your unnie kicks butt :) Some people just don't know how to not be jerks. I had thought that maybe the comment wasn't intended as rudely as I was reading it, but just from the responses they wrote it's easy to see that that is not a person whose opinion is to be valued! I just wish I knew that before I even bothered commenting :) my nana always said that if you can't say something nice then shut your trap! It's too bad others didn't have such awesome nana's :) keep encouraging your sister to be awesome, that's the way it should be ;)

I do sometimes!! Depends on the drama, of course :) I never once wanted to be Geun Jan Di from BBF for instance, but I wouldn't say no to switching places with someone like Lee Seol from My Princess! You get to be a princess and sleep with someone as hot as Song Seung Hun? Heck yes!! I'd sign up for that in a heartbeat :)

True :) I thought the article was very funny and did a good job pointing out these cliches some of us sigh over! If loving this stuff means I have to give my feminist woman card up, I will gladly relinquish it!

Honestly, I feel like there is a little bit of a disconnect in my brain, and probably most people's, when watching a drama. If a boy were to grab my arm in real life and drag me anywhere, he'd be sporting some bruises of his own. In real life it's not sexy! But I get to watching a drama, and the heroine starts to leave in a huff and all I want is for him to stop her. Do I want a knight in shining armor to save the day? I'd settle for the boyfriend remembering to straighten out the shower curtain after every shower and not letting the dog eat macaroni and cheese. I am a big girl, I can save myself. But for some reason, I can lust after the fictional knights in shining armor with the best of them. I don't think there is anything wrong with enjoying these cliches, as long as a person understands the line between fiction and reality. Except maybe we can be ok with piggy back rides as a reality, as they are ridiculously adorable :)

Mind=blown. Guess I should have known better than to poke a troll :p I will just remain with my "keep up the good work unnie" and leave it at that :)
Isn't this news TOO OLD? These are not even the latest updates on the case. Where is the update on where her friend…
Oh, I am sorry. I didn't realize I was dealing with a diva. There is a difference between a snob and a jerk. You, unfortunately, are both. You've seen more dramas than I have? That's so great, do you want a cookie? If you want to talk about best of lists, or awesome actors, then maybe I would defer to your "wisdom". Since you're such a foul human being, I doubt it, but hey you never know. My point was not that I have more experience than you so you should listen to me. My point was stop being so rude when you can't be bothered to write your own article for the page with the "correct" information.
Feel free to comment with whatever other justifications you need to prove to yourself that it's not rude to get on someone else's hard work and act like a jack A**. It's beyond clear to me that you are not an individual I need in my life nor someone whose opinion will ever matter to me, so I am done with this conversation. Purplenette knows I and others appreciate her hard work and I guess we just all have to learn that there are some people not worth taking the time to speak with.
This all sounds so sketchy! If this woman is lying, I hope they publicize her name and her life becomes living…
It is seriously disgusting if she is lying about everything, and the more I hear about it, the more it feels like she is. Park Shi Hoo is a very good looking man, and I have liked him in what I have seen him in, but he is still a human capable of mistakes and wrongdoings. But every single piece of evidence they bring to light just screams that it was consensual and she is regretting it. And that sure as heck doesn't mean you get to go scream rape!!
Anywho, I tend to babble a lot :p Let me know if you are able to get into Missing You from the adult part of the show! I think all this talking about it has me wanting to go rewatch it tonight!
