I’m not trying to be antifeminist or anything, but i found the fight scene between the female lead and Shi Hu unrealistic. It’s not that a smaller person can’t kill a larger one, but usually because of something- either they have a better fighting technique, more experience or they use their smarts in some way to outwit the bigger guy, etc…but the action choreography in this duel with 2 opponents using the same type of fighting style (brute force) and war hammers- it made it look like she wore him down and the guy is huge- it just didn’t look convincing for such a tiny woman to have done that…and this isn’t xianxia or strong woman do bong soon where the smaller person has powers or anything. it didnt even look like she was fighting she just had one scratch on her face…the guy basically throwing her around (physically believable)- then her doing the same thing (it didnt look as convincing) she didn't even look like she broke a sweat…not saying i dislike the FL (quite the opposite) but i dont like this type of plot armor or fight choreography its not believable

The male lead’s duel in episode 39 is even worse- it’s like he’s just posing (cape flying and all) it feels like they are more concerned about him looking good than looking like a believable warrior…and its not about size or shape- you can be small and lithe but still feel like a fighter (even the lead in vendetta of an reminds me of the petite warrior ruroni kenshin);

everything looks beautiful tho, and the cinematography and lighting are great…but ill probably watch this for the romance only…when i look at the FL and ML in armor riding their horses they look like cosplayers. of the two, i think i like the FL more…

Title Love for You
Can anyone tell me (under a spoiler) how toxic the story is? Just need to know how mean the ccharacters get when they're with each other so I can decide if I want to check this out or if it might be too much for me...

I've seen some translations but they're MTL so not sure how accurate

Also, why is it called Wild Dog Bones?

Title The First Frost Spoiler
After watching 26 episodes, I realized that Sang Yan is NOT a main character, but a substitute for the one and…
Most mainstream shows and movies are male centric where things are basically about the main ML and even when he has a love interest (regardless of whether she's a strong, weak, flawed or perfect) she was (like everything in the story) created for him.

Asian romance dramas are usually female centric, but there are some that have an equal focus on both the FL and ML and there are also those that are male centric. That's why I think viewers just need to set their expectations to know what they're getting into. Or try to find something with a trope or dynamic they prefer. I've watched a lot of these ramas since the 2000s and at that time the MLs were written kind of mean. It's not like that nowadays but I think that might be the reason behind the appeal of the nice male lead- it may seem boring to others but refreshing for those who don't prefer or got tired of the mean ML/bad boy (ex: Meteor Garden) .

I'm not sure exactly what flaws people want to see in the ML of First Frost? Do they want Sang Yan to be indecisive towards Yifan? Show interest in other girls? Do something that hurts her?

The story is kind of heavy enough as it is. Compared to most cdramas (ex: when i fly towards you, hidden love, go go squid, etc), TFF deals with pretty dark themes already. If they were to write Sang Yan as a bit of a meanie like the guy from Go Go Squid or Lighter and Princess, it might be a bit much for the story. I'm not saying that Go Go Squid or Lighter and Princess are bad dramas (I'm sure they're very good too, and effective at whatever ideas they're trying to express...but you could also argue that they're male centric and that everything is about having to deal with the MLs issues with the FL basically being there for them...basically the reverse...but people don't really question this) Other shows like Hidden Love, etc also have a somewhat perfect hero but it escapes criticism.

In TFF, with the FL already dealing with the trauma of her past, her family betraying her, her parent abandoning her...if they added another problem coming from the male lead it might be a bit extreme or even exaggerated from a story writing POV. One of the themes in TFF is that the ML was one of the few good* things in the FLs life. And she regretted turning her back on him when he didn't deserve it. If they were to rewrite the MLs personality as somewhat difficult, I'm not sure how that would have been as effective with what they were trying to do if he were to simply add to her problems. If they wrote him as shy or introverted and unable to express himself, I don't see how that would have worked either...because the FL is already* like that. Again, I'm not saying I have a problem with shy MLs or even "mean" MLs (I'm actually one of those who like the Chinese Meteor Garden tho I don't usually go for mean MLs) ...if they are written well, I'm just not sure how that would have worked in the context of this specific story.

The thing is I don't think every story can be everything for everyone. It can't tackle everything all at once.

The character of Sang Yan is actually flawed. He's very sarcastic and he can actually say mean things (ex: "If I were a girl, would I go for a toad like you?" to one of his classmates) "and have very cutting remarks. It's just that he happens to be nice to the FL specifically, that's the main reason why he appears perfect but he actually isn't. He's just very good to her. When people say they want to see flaws, I'm just not sure what kind of flaws they want to see. Do they mean that they want to see flaws in his character itself or just have him written to be less nice or loving towards the FL? In Hidden Love and also in other parts of TFF, when he is framed from other people's POVs, he's basically just a regular guy.

I think it would be great if they made kdrama versions of some western or European thrillers like The Snow Man by Jo Nesbo or the Harlan Coben novels.

Also, the following is not non- asian but I think it would make a great drama adaptation:

Fushigi Yuugi/The Mysterious Play is an anime where a girl gets absorbed into a book and she plays a very big role in an ancient Chinese fantasy where two magic clans (Suzaku/Phoenix and Seeiryu/Dragon) are fighting. This would make a good cdrama.

Title Green Rose Spoiler
The leads didn't have chemistry, and FL kept crying in every episode. Even in the last scene when the leads are…
Don't watch it for the romance (it's practically non-existent); watch it for the male lead's arc.

Title One Piece
this is the new standard for anime live action adaptations
Well that's good because it is a good show! But for simply pointing out that this isn't really an Asian production, people get called names and all sorts of things...not sure exactly why people can't seem to understand that pointing out a truth isn't a wrong thing. They simply don't want to hear anything that goes against what they are doing. Asians always get whitewashed or replaced with other actors which is another issue...again, people don't care or they make fun of this situation...it's a really bad double standard when it comes to diversity, IMHO.

In the case of One Piece, the cast works very well... AGAIN this is not the issue here.

This is one of the few examples where a western adaptation did a very good job (Matt Owens did a great job!) so even non-comic fans like me can enjoy it. The only ones who won't like it are probably comic purists but there will always be those for any other adaptation, it's normal they are entitled to their opinions.

I liked this show but I don't think this is an Asian drama? I think it qualifies more as a western adaptation of an Asian comic. It was a good adaptation, though.

Title Nirvana in Fire Spoiler
A very good bromance from the start to the last
not really…the main ML has a fatherly relationship with two of his younger friends for the first twenty episodes. his friendship with the prince was not featured that much- tbh there were times i felt the prince was really mean to him. but all the relationships were satisfying to watch, in a say.

Title Wanthong
a "historical" drama but they cast a half white chick. There were barely any half whites back then in the old…
If you were familiar with lakorns, you would know that Thailand’s best actress is a Luk kreung. She was also one of the first to play strong female characters which was rare* during that time and in fact, made it popular. That’s why they are open to this type of casting. It’s not so much accuracy but a type of casting culture since the late 80s or 90s. A lot of the best boran lakorns cast halfies or mixed actresses, it’s also because it happens a lot in Thailand- a lot of Thai women have a white partner/husband so they have mixed kids. Same with a lot of other southeast Asian countries. And some of these kids happen to be actresses. The best actress in Thai drama is half Swedish, and this is not my opinion. This is something most Thai people have decided for themselves* without any outside interference.

In another case, one of the first actresses who was open to playing an evil main lead character role (sort of like Rosamund pike in Gone Girl, only a hundred times more exaggerated) is also a luk kreung...back then most lakorn female leads would always play good girl roles so it was a new thing. She even got an award for playing such a shocking evil character because no one else was willing to do it. Sometimes these actresses become popular for a reason, not just because they are half white.

I understand colorism and agree that it does exist...but at the same time it's judgmental to assume it in every* case. Try to get to know something before judging it. There could be other reasons why someone was cast in a drama, not because they were ‘half white’, you do not know the details behind it. I have seen the west and big data promote actresses with NO TALENT whatsoever (I would go so far as to say that they are BAD in acting) other than that they look exactly how they think an Asian should look like, because they know better. Always.

Ironic because these actresses already have big connections which explain why they get cast with big male leading stars in one project after another, despite their lack of talent etc. but they have the ‘right look’ according to what you want.

If this casting bothers you a lot, you can try emailing channel 3 but do it in Thai because they don’t speak English.

Good to know...but you should be telling the other fans of this show, not me :) also, since there’s no connection between 10 miles and this one, it doesn’t make sense to include it in the tag it’s just confusing that way.

At first i thought it was an anime for peach blossoms but it’s for this show? Anyway, fans of the untamed might want to check this anime out, it looks well done.

It’s great how bl lovers now have this show, but a little strange when i am seeing it even in instagram tags for ten miles of peach blossom? I don’t think these two shows are related whatsoever, unlike pillow book?

This is true, but her upcoming lakorns are all with different actors, so fingers crossed! As much as I love NY,…
Actually, I don’t mind if she never pairs with mark. I just want to see her in another lakorn like kluen cheewit. With another actor who she has decent chemsitry with...and who isn’t too old...and who isn’t nadech lol honestly, it’s as if the channel doesn’t want her to have an identity apart from nadech/yaya which i find pretty weird.
