And yes she was badass, she fought a female student for bullying Xu Ruyi then she beat up a male student who tried to threaten her. SJ witnessed both and was so impressed,

They ended up together. They went to SJ tattoo shop and
LYJ got a tattoo done by SJ. There wasn’t any doubt they’ll be together. Her mom was out of the picture. LYJ was greatly accepted by SJ’s family.

I have seen the unsubbed eps and I wanted to wait til Viki finished subbing all episodes. I kept reading about the ending and i couldn’t help but watch with the awful subs. If they wanted an open ending like that, they could at least have LYJ and SJ communicate with eo about her working far away and not leave it unsaid. Open ending does not mean unfinished, it felt that way. Like they didn’t know how to end it. I have read the novel in anticipation of this drama and that had my expectations really high. I’m not even talking about the intimacy between main couple as I was okay with that seeing they were very emotionally intimate and could show their love even without a lot of kissing scenes. I know a lot are saying the plot was all over the place because they went from silver shop to shooting to silver shop problems etc, but the shooting part was really part of the novel although they could have cut down screen time for this. Considering there were a lot of problems in the drama that they were able to solve well, you would think they would know how to show a better ending.

There were parts of the novel that they could have used in that would set this drama apart, like:
- lyj being super badass with the bullies and was able to play basketball with the men
- sj being jealous with lyj’s male bestfriends and asking he songnan how does one not fall in love with a friend
- during senior hs when they were apart, LYJ realizing something was wrong with her and she needed professional help (i was really looking forward to this part and how sj knew about her needing psych help)
- the conflict of lyj not knowing Sj was super rich (how she knew about it from her gege and the way she was trying to make sj confess about it was funny in the novel)
- lyj and nxh confrontation that had lujing hurt but made sj realize how much lyj loves him.
- them piercing each other’s ear on lyj’s birthday

Things i appreciate in the drama:
- the cast, their acting. ZYR’s nuanced acting. Sabrina’s talent.
- supportive friends and how they showed it
- step sibling relationship and how they communicate
- main couple non toxic relationship and communication, except the ending.
- SJ conversation with lyj’s mom, i really appreciate the dialogue in this scene, and zhou yiran’s delivery of his lines made it feel real.
- soothing music

Overall, i’m still glad i watched the drama. It could have been better.

Great acting from FZX, i watched to the end cause I was so curious what his secret was. Thriller indeed.

Of all the changes from the novel, why did the mom have to be sick?! Im annoyed.

in the novel, Shen Juan’s family is super rich. He even has a private jet! This was an issue between the couple cause LYJ was under the impression that SJ is poor and supporting himself. LYJ found out and SJ was in too deep to admit it. Hope they’ll show it in the drama.

High School students are not allowed to date in China. This is always the case for youth cdramas.

I just remembered, LYJ in novel has high alcohol tolerance.

I was thinking about that during ep16. Do you know if suicide is not censored in cdramas?

- also his uncle in the novel tried to commit suicide because of depression not accident. That’s why he was in a coma.
- SJ mom alive in novel and helped him when uncle passed.
- in novel, during time they were apart LYJ had depression and asked her mom to see a psychiatrist. ( i was hoping for this in the drama)
- in novel, LYJ thought SJ was poor

From the 14 episodes i’ve seen, LYJ’s mom is worse in the novel actually. She makes her feel unworthy of love.

At Ep13 anyone noticed how Shen Juan reacted when they reunited in the rain? when LYJ first smiled at him he looked taken aback and hurt at the same time. And also when he was waiting for her to talk before he closed the elevator. I like ZYR acting here.

But i do agree with the shen tired at some point cause he’s always sleepy. 😴😂
