Absolutely brilliant drama. It took me like, a month to finish, just because I wanted to take my time and watch it carefully. Perhaps to some people it can talke some time to get hooked into the story, but it's trully great.
There's very little romance, relationships are platonic and not the main focus of the story, but it still features great relationships, friendships, companionship and bonds that are strong and beautiful.
Yes there's a lot of planning, talking, discussing and making strategies, the male lead is an strategist after all, but it's so well executed and every step of the story is so well thought of.
Totally deserving of this rating, if not more; the characters, plot, and story development are brilliant, we can hardly see dramas that stand the test of time like this one, a classic.

I'd say he doesn't really know how to handle the situation, he wants to talk with her about how to deal with it,…
It was awful to see how the doctors/nurses treated her, without caring about what she felt/what she wanted, they totally left her on her own, basically making her guilty about the whole situation. While the boy didn't want her to have an abortion, I felt that he still didn't push as many boundaries as the healthcare workers, who should have known better and treat her with respect.
There's this whole stigma around having an abortion, in my country it's still illegal to have one, and many women do it through illegal ways, in many cases risking their lives, so the only way to guarantee women's health and safety is to legalize it.

You're welcome! I'd say that their episode is one of the best so far in the drama, and how they close their main arc is not crass or thoughtless, so give it a try and see if the whole set and pace of the drama is to your liking!

Title Our Blues Spoiler
I wanted to watch but I saw a clip in which a boy dissuaded a girl from having an abortion saying that it was…
I'd say he doesn't really know how to handle the situation, he wants to talk with her about how to deal with it, he also understands and wants to listen to what she wants to do. It's more that she keeps a distance from him and she's handling everything by herself (she has her reasons to it) so the guy kind of blurts out that phrase.
From ep. 5 the show doesn't try to push the narrative that the teenagers "want" to raise a child that young, it just shows how difficult is for them to deal with this issue.
Their story arc is not over yet, so can't really tell how things are going to wrap up. Hope this helps a little!

Lol, yes specially because it makes no sense in Spanish. :)And you are welcome! As an avid drama fan for decades,…
Absolutely agree that OTT platforms should put more effort in the whole process of picking an english title (and also the whole process of putting subtitles on the shows, it's also another big topic to discuss). At this point one would think that several of the big platforms would put more thought in this process, giving that they have big marketing/production teams.
I think that since certain markets don't particularly cater to foreing audiences (like Japan or China) they don't put much effort into what English titles they use for their dramas, I must admit that I largely prefer how Japan just sticks with their original title, although I wish that we could have more fitting English titles.
Anyway, this has been a super interesting topic! It gives more insight to the whole drama watching.

Great article! The details about translation and how it can be complicated to make one that is 100% perfect without losing some context is awesome; sometimes I feel that when bad translations are discussed (it can be titles or subtitles) not enough is said about how complicated it is, particularly when the cultures differ so much that certain words or phrases just don't exist.
Title translation is such a nightmare, it has to somewhat convey what the drama is about and be catchy. After watching dramas for a while I'm pretty sure that I'm used to all these weird titles, but from time to time a new one comes and surprises me more. As a native spanish speaker 'Hotel del Luna' is unforgettable...

Oh no, that's not it! From what I understand, San (the king) had a wife which is often referred just as Queen.…
No need to feel dumb or anything! I also thought it was quite confussing, since they never really showed her in the drama. according to history she and San never had children, that's why San had to have concubines in order to have an heir

Can anyone enlighten me if they really meant The Queen trying to be pregnent by King (her grandson) Did they sleep…
Oh no, that's not it! From what I understand, San (the king) had a wife which is often referred just as Queen. If I remember correctly, when Deok Ro is kidnapping the court ladies he does it so he can blame 'Queen Kim' aka San's wife, for the death of his sister
The Queen Dowager is the political grandmother of the king, and no, she doesn't want to have a child with San

The CGI looks fine... what I did heard was lots of praise when the drama had a limited release at TIFF, which is huge for a drama to be screened at and get the positive response it had, so perhaps all this talk about CGI is kind of misplaced.

Do I have to watch Burning Ice first before this one, are the 2 dramas connected to each other?
I watched The Long Night without watching Burning Ice and I felt like I didn't miss anything. From what I understande both TLN and BI share a character named Yan Liang, but that's the only connection between those dramas. You can choose which one you want to watch first!

He not just bullied people but also committed some sexual assault. And not just one or two people but about five…
Seriously, he showed no empathy to the people he bullied and assaulted... And do you expect people to show him empathy and "stand in his position"? He has to be responsible for his actions. Stop trying to make him the victim in all of this, death threats are extreme, sure, but he's not the victim, he brought this up himself

I have no problem with this because I enjoy seeing how different countries infuse their unique spin and culture…
I feel like a lot of the reactions against the remake is that people won't get to know the original and the remake will get more exposure; or perhaps that there's no need to remake something that's good already. For me, the fact that they're doing this shows just how good the drama is. I'm also curious about how this remake is going to adapt the story, like you said, how are they going to infuse their culture, like what songs are they going to use...
If the remake is not good enough, I'm just not going to watch it and keep re-watching the original. For me, one big thing is going to be the casting choices, so I'm both curious and wary about the cast.
And yes, I think one big problem with American remakes of movies/tv shows, is that they don't consume a lot of media from other countries, so it always feels like if there's a popular (or good in terms of script, production, etc) movie/show, the US will do a remake instead of making the original available for audiences.

I actually don't know if i'm minority but saw it as Bong hwan giving his life protecting Cheoljong when he was…
Don't apologize! , reading your comment made me revisit the show again. I agree that the producers/writers kept it safe, they didn't show directly how Bong Hwan felt (as in, we the viewers understood what he felt through his actions). Honestly, I'd liked it if they didn't try to play it safe so much.
The way I saw it, when he said "oh So Yong took over" it was because in a way she did, and thanks to that he came to terms with his feelings. My take is that SoBong (I'm borrowing the name) was a product of BH and SY, with BH being the lead, I don't disregard the role that SY had, but the one that took action was mainly BH. At a point, he sort of gave up trying to return to the present and decided to make the best with being in SY body. Also agree that this was more a journey of growth for Bong Hwan, he was selfish and full of himself, and this experience taught him about who he was.
Above all, I really enjoyed the show and all the ride it took us...

I actually don't know if i'm minority but saw it as Bong hwan giving his life protecting Cheoljong when he was…
Oh, that's interesting, I definitely see what you mean when you say that Bong Hwan chose to sacrifice himself to save Cheoljong and that somehow pushed to So Yong to act... the way I saw it both So Yong and Bong Hwan co-existed in the same body, (hope you don't mind my little rant, sorry) :
1. First of all, the memories of So Yong, these were crucial to understand the motives and machinations of the people around them. I agree that Bong Hwan was the lead, but, the moment So Yong's memories appear is crucial to the way the plot develops.
2. So Yong remembers the choices and actions Bong Hwan did, that's why she's not startled or confused when she "comes back", her conversation with her dad, for example, is way too similar to another conversation she had with him. She also acknowledges that she has been "behaving weirdly" she knows who Bong Hwan was and wonders if he has gone back safely.
3. Bong Hwan can't explain the way he expresses his feelings towards Cheoljong. He starts finding him attractive, also he's shocked to find out that he slept with the king. I think he cares deeply for Cheoljong, he truly appreciates what he does and tries to do as a king and person, but he is shocked to find those romantic impulses in him... I feel that that part was So Yong...
I also find it interesting how you saw the events in the show! I find it amazing how the show is able to made us consider different possibilities!

Its a sad ending people saying its a happy ending didnt understand the drama. BH takes control of the queens body…
I'm sorry, but I also watched the show, and I did understand the drama.
I do think that we have different views towards it, and that's ok.
Through out the episode So Yong shows that she was also present while Bong Hwan was in her body, sure he was the voice and his actions were the driven force of the story, but in a way it was sort of her story, since her memories helped Bong Hwan and were important factors that made him take different choices.
While I get that it's sad that Bong Hwan had to return, and he could no longer be close with Cheoljong, he also wanted to return to his body, to his life; and only when he found out that his efforts were fruitless he started to get involved and be proactive... basically trying to live as So Yong. So yes, it's bittersweet, because he lost all the bonds he made, the people he cared for (not only the King, but also Lady Choi and Hong Yeon) but at the same time he got to return to his life.
You may not agree, and are clearly displeased with how this ended. But it doesn't mean that those who found the ending a happy one, didn't understand the show...
