I am loving this drama. Just my humble opinion on Zhousheng Chen. Everyone has praised ONO however, people are not contained with FNE. Specially the character Zhousheng Chen. To those who have read the novel beautiful bones might agree that the character dynamics of our ML is different in drama from novel. In novel, he still has got domineering aura while in drama he is naive, dorky and nerdy chemistry professor. Since character dynamics have changed we need to see the story from his perspective. ML who has high IQ but really low EQ. He has spent half of his life just doing to and from from lab or institute to dormitory. He stayed in Germany like for 9 yrs correct me if I am not wrong and when Shiyi visits him there and asks him to take her around he is like I don’t know much about this place. No dating experience or going out for fun or anything during college life as explained by his friend shows how isolated was he from the world. His only world was his lab. Now he starts a relationship then we can’t expect him to Warm up all of a sudden. He is polite and gentleman. He doesn’t know how to express his emotions but he cares a lot about Shiyi and can be seen through his actions. He finds himself clueless and helpless but still trying to walk out of his boxed world towards Shiyi. Very proud of him. With low EQ, he can easily take jokes very seriously. If it is from Shiyi then he will be even more serious because it is Shiyi. That is why when Shiyi joked about letting him sleep in study he took in seriously. Even they have consummated he remembered what Shiyi said and respected her opinion. He doesn’t dare to openly hold hands or show off his love because he is shy and does think that it’s not necessary. But still he is taking initiative for Shiyi. Talking about holding hands of Shiyi infront of D. Wang it was solely because he was jealous. Shiyi is his and he doesn’t want to loose her so he is very protective towards her. Because he is worried that Shiyi will be taken away by someone else didn’t he proposed to get marriage certificate first. Looking at where he is coming from if he warmed up so easily then I would be a little amazed. He is taking his time. I guess that is why this is slow burn drama. His character has grown very well from that indifferent person to caring person. From awkward politeness to loving and romantic relationship.
