This drama is a complete and utter mess and I honestly feel that the writing for this is disrespectful to the actors who honestly deserve much better than this dung pile.
When I first started watching this show I actually enjoyed it. The parts where the FL and ML were getting to know each other and how she yelled at her cheating awful ex in the middle of work were great. I also enjoyed the ML as a character, someone who sincerely enjoyed and found fulfilment interacting with nature and forecasting the weather. Honestly if this had been about shenanigans with him at a small weather station this would have been a much more interesting drama.
However now I have so many many problems.
1. The FL doesn't seem to find any enjoyment in her job whatsoever. They portray her as this consumed career woman who acts cold and collected. It is was drives the majority of all of the relationship troubles, and yet it is pretty clear that she is always miserable or at least empty inside and gets little to no fulfilment in her work. Why does she work at the weather station, why is she there, why does she like it, why does she want to be director. These ideas have been lost from the drama. And she is so fervent to not have her private life cross over into her work life but my question is why, Ha Kyung do you even enjoy what you do?
2. The second lead characters are a big problem. Yes they are a semi-realistic portrayal of a couple and the hardships that one will have to go through because of the bad start to their relationship. However, it doesn't seem like the director is trying to show this lesson with their characters. I sincerely hope that they break up and don't end up together and instead actually learn about their traitorous and violent actions because if they end up happy with their selfish and disgusting personalities I am going to be really annoyed.
3. The second male lead as a character has so much growth to do as a person to get rid o his inferiority complex, this is what his arc in the drama should have been about. Learning how and why he did wrong and sincerely becoming a better person through effort. However, I don't see this happening and instead he will just continue to be pathetic. (the acting though is great) he has so much work to do in his work life and self and the fact that he is even in a relationship is astounding. They need to break up if this is to realistic at all.
4. people are saying that this is a melodrama but honestly it is such a effing drag, the characters are miserable, the plot is miserable, the writing is miserable, we are miserable. I have watched melodramas like When I was the Most Beautiful and Something in the Rain (which is great other than the abusive awful mother character) and both of these dramas are plenty melodramatic while also displaying beautiful themes like connection, empathy, courage, and selflessness. This drama, especially with it's setting is simply not in the correct genre for me. As I said above I think this show would have been so much better if it was a romcom with an ensemble cast that focused on shenanigans at a small town weather station or if it was a sincere office drama that portrayed the passion characters have for their jobs and the learning and growth they do in them. Instead we get miserable miserableness intermixed with completely bizarre and unrealistic weather crisises every week and everyone being miserable for how, once again, they haven't correctly done their jobs and have to face public backlash.
5. both the FL and ML lack chemistry at this point and I don't understand whatsoever why they are even interested in each other. Like if I asked could they even tell me? If i was Si Woo I would run away as fast as I could from KMA and never look back.
6. there is a problem when the best and most heartfelt love story is of two side characters who will probably only get 30 minutes together in the entire drama.
