The reason so many people are upset is because there is a HUGE disconnect. The actors playing Hee Do (Tae Ri) and Yi Jin (NJH) made their characters appear so in love with each other that the writing in the last few episodes didn't make sense with the characters they had shown us in the earlier episodes. The "realistic" ending MIGHT have made sense on paper when the writer wrote it but for the kind of soul that the actors brought to the table, and the way Hee Do & Yi Jin really understood each other's core & were each other's biggest strength, the writing made all their growth and moments thus far seem fake.
it sounds like you are saying they separated due to noble idiocy. Noble Idiocy is the single worse reason for…
I see what you mean but if it was "noble idiocy" where the leads are driven apart and left alone for the wounds to fester without the character knowing why the other person broke up is definitely annoying and does not lead to growth. However, that is not the case in this drama. The leads know very quickly why the other person is willing to sacrifice themselves and put their loved one before them -> which to me is the definition of selfless love. And I LOVE that once they realize that, they actively work towards changing the mind of the other character (and succeed). So for me, I loved how that made them stronger as a couple.
Just want to say that the reviews and comments here almost stopped me from watching this show and that would have been sooo sad because I LOVED it!! It's the perfect amount of fluff, sweet, adorableness, humor and good kisses haha.
Warning, spoilers ahead:
I was worried about separation tracks but tbh they werent really separated due to a fight... Even when FL wanted to break up for ML's sake (there was an actual reason) or when she thought he does not like her, the ML went after her and proved his love. Similarly, when the ML realized the truth about the accident, I LOVE how the FL went after him and did not leave him alone. I dont mind separation tracks/fights that make the couple stronger and bring them even closer together.
The way the ML is written is probably one of my all time favorite male leads. Also, for the people worried about the ML having the son and hence having feelings for the son's mother - dont worry, ML is not the biological Dad - though he probably does care for him more than a biological father.
I almost didn't watch this based on the initial reviews by some people but after the first 2 episodes, the pace and overall quality really picks up and this has become one of my favorite shows this year specially for the combo of suspense, horror and sci-fi. Loved the acting, the message and the way everything unveiled. So glad I continued and finished it.
It has romance but it's more of a slow burn. That being said, you see the leads develop feelings for each other, and how they fell for each other is really organic. There isn't a lot of skinship but what there is, is super satisfying to watch. Also, this has one of the best MLs ever! The FL and ML really help each other grow into better people. Oh and I like that we get to see some moments of them actually being a couple at the end (and yup, definitely a HE).
Gotta say, JS is one of the best MLs ever, and Kim Seon Ho is now on my top list of actors. He knows exactly when to emote and exactly when to keep it subtle, but with equal impact; his eyes do so much talking, even in the quiet scenes. The way his character is written is probably the best in recent years; they don’t write MLs like that anymore. The show was such a great mix of comedy, thriller and romance. I love slow burns done right, and this was the perfect example of that. The ML and FL made each other a better person, and that’s a solid foundation for a relationship. I really like how they came to respect each other before they organically fell for each other. I know some people had issues with the FL, but tbh I didn’t mind her. Her acting in some parts was outstanding (especially as the "other" person), and her character had a reason for doing everything she did that gets slowly revealed. Even the scenes where her character was played up for comic reasons were still staying true to her setup. Some of the other actors did phenomenally as well. The whodunnit for the overarching arc kept you guessing until the end, and the reveal made sense in the world the story created. The case-of-the-week, and the beautiful way human relationships were portrayed, made me reflect on myself and my role in the society. I love it when a show is able to do all of the above in an effective manner; this drama is such an underrated gem.
I am the type of person who HATES open endings with a passion, and seriously avoid shows of that nature. Hence why I avoided watching Vagabond, until everyone kept recommending it to me and I finally caved. Probably the best action show I have ever seen, and I love that it had it all - action, romance, suspense, politics, comedy, and most importantly, the way that raw emotions were dealt with and portrayed was outstanding. I fell in love with all the characters, mostly because how layered they were all written and the outstanding acting (omg Suzy has grown SO much, would definitely call her an actor now). I do wish they hadn't ended where the show ended, but at the same time, they did finish the arc that covered 90% of the episodes, and I did find that incredibly satisfying. So even though there is an open ending, it's almost like an extended epilogue after ep 14 that makes you want a season 2. If you're in the mood for a tightly written narrative with brilliant direction & cinematography and layered acting, definitely give this a go.
Personally for me, I am really loving this drama so far. All the episodes so far have been setting up the worlds,…
Also, I really really love that for a change, the female lead has been shown to be sensible and THINK before returning the male lead's feelings, when the ML shows up out of nowhere full guns blazing professing his love spouting that he's from a parallel universe and has been searching for her for 25 years. The fact that she is trying to rationally think about it all while trying to resist his charm, AND that he is giving her the mental and physical space to work it all out while continuing to wear his heart on his sleeves, makes the leads' chemistry so delectable to me! Her brain is beginning to lose the battle against her heart, and I can't wait for the upcoming fireworks as she throws herself headfirst into loving him as much as he loves her.
Personally for me, I am really loving this drama so far. All the episodes so far have been setting up the worlds, the characters and the storyline. I feel like people are being impatient and want everything to happen right from the get go but when you have such a complex story with so many different facets, it takes a while to introduce everything. Right now it seems that the characters are deliberately being shown to have one layer with hints of deeper motivations, and I am really looking forward to seeing how the story and characters further develop. I feel it's best to go in blind (with the expectations of a fantasy rom-com) and judge the show for yourself, rather than being biased from the get go.
If you want to go on a journey about human relationships that explores all the subtle nuances, gray areas, and motivations, that encompass being a human, then this is a must watch. Every single character was so finely etched and just the fact that you sympathize with each and every character in the show at least once, conveys the amount of depth and sincerity in the narrative. Every single scene has so many undertones and if you try and pay attention to everything that is NOT being said, along with everything that is being verbalized, you'll come to appreciate the brilliant storytelling even more. I can for sure say that just by watching this show, I was able to reflect more on my actions, motivations and aspirations, and grow into a better human being. The acting is A++++++. Will not be forgetting any of the characters, especially SRY and YS for a long long time.
To me, the ending symbolizes what LZW said in episode 10 after the airport scene. As the time travel loop keeps continuing, the "newer" versions of the leads behave similarly but with minor differences in words/actions, and they keep becoming ever-so-slightly braver.
They kept trying to end this never-ending-cycle by fixing things, when the only fix was for the cycle to have never started. While LZW and HYX got a chance to lead some very happy years due to the time travel, it ended up making every single person miserable including them. HYX's decision to destroy the tape was the bravest decision she could take. The only way to get a true happy ending was for LZW and HYX to make the ultimate sacrifice and hope they would still find each other (which they did!!).
does it focus more on romance? or the scary mystery plot? after watching the trailer, I am not so sure I want…
It has one of the best romance I have ever seen (I have watched 100+ dramas) . I don't think it is scary tbh (currently on ep 11/13) but yeah there is definitely suspense and mystery with how things unfold. It is better to go in blind because every single scene has been placed strategically and things you've already seen start making more sense as you keep watching. One of the best directed dramas with a tight, intricately written scripts ever.
Still on 11/13 but this is already one of my favorite dramas EVER, from any country. Haven't felt drama addiction and withdrawal like this in years. If you want ROMANCE, suspense, time-travel, and pure emotions done right, watch this. The acting is BRILLIANT, the chemistry between the leads is one of the best ever, the soundtrack is AMAZING. Hats off to the director and screenwriters for planning this story, it's soooo intricately well developed with even the most minute details taken care of.
Loved the chemistry between the main leads, had way more cute scenes than the Korean version. And the actor playing Jiang Xia is actually pretty good, can't wait to see him in more stuff. Stephy Qi is gorgeous.
The comments down are too spoiler-ish so I cant read them, can someone please just spoil one thing about the ending, did Eun Dan Oh and Haru end up together in the end (and not in the ended up dying together way)?
Still on ep 10/32 but I love how there is attention to even the smallest details! Everytime Haru is shown on screen the sunlight follows him around just like it did for Yeo Joo Da in the introductory episodes... I'm guessing this will have to do with the "flowers" manhwa... can't wait to watch the remaining episodes!
Can someone please remove the crybaby female lead tag.It is misleading and not at all what the drama is about.Yes,the…
I agree that the tag is misleading... I personally think that she only cries when the situation demands for it... I hate it when in other dramas the FL constantly cries for no reason and helplessly sits there, but in this drama thankfully that's not the case. She does her best to solve the situation and because she is human, and feels emotion, she does cry when she feels pain (which is also probably supposed to highlight the contrast between her and *another person*)
The best drama out there right now, and the first one to really capture my attention in over a year... makes you contemplate and think about life and emotions. LOVE the acting by the main leads and their chemistry is lit. Waiting for the next episode with bated breath!
