"Easily move on and accept his new identity?" I personally think 2 years is a reasonable amount of time to finally…
Fair point. The moment when Asule called his dad "Appa" for the first time moved my heart and I took that cue from the drama as the point of emotional change in Asule. But I definitely see your point now -- Asule saying he wanted to do something for Qinyang as the CP was pretty abrupt. I'm glad this drama successfully get the green light to be broadcast on TV (unlike Chang'an which is a damn shame because that drama is excellent too) but we don't know what exactly had been cut off because of China's NRTA censorship.
You're right about Lu Guichen in Episode 6. I think that was a very cathartic moment after all the emotional buildup and repression he was forced to do.
I'm going to feel like a broken record but the plot and script direction isn't there yet if you compare it to…
You know, I get it. I know it's probably not entirely your fault that you are socially inept and infected with delusions of grandeur that you somehow think:
1. Your unwelcome and unasked reply downplaying and belittling a drama that a stranger (who is minding their own business) is clearly loving is needed (spoiler: it's not) 2. You alone shoulder the burden to catapult the progress of China’s film industry (spoiler: you don’t) and raining on a viewer’s parade by leaving your snobbish comments that nobody ask for under a viewer’s positive impression of a drama will magically help the industry (spoiler: you don’t). 3. People in the fandoms of “Asian stuffs” are incapable of taking criticisms (spoiler: We can, YOU just lack the social skills) and we are all streaming illegally because you assume we all broke and can’t afford to buy a Viki Pass Plus uwu
But I don't think any of us should have to put up with this much of your bullshit. Pity of your insecurity only gets you so many concessions, and you used up yours up about two insults ago. So please, just shut tf up and go be toxic somewhere else.
I'm going to feel like a broken record but the plot and script direction isn't there yet if you compare it to…
Oh please you're the one assuming negative stereotypes about fandoms of "Asian stuffs" and frankly your comments reek of prejudice and condescension. Asian dramas HAVE BEEN better. There are good shows and bad shows, just like dramas from any other countries or platforms like Netflix, etc.
And I don't see how hijacking viewers' comment praising Novoland to shove your unsolicited opinions will benefit the China's film industry. Go take a nap sir. Either make your own commentary or get stuffed.
"I have Youku, Iqiyi and Viki premium to support this industry, what about you?" What is up with this condescending question lmaoooo as if you're the savior of the Chinese film industry and other people aren't actively supporting them with legal means. The fact that you even asked this question shows how arrogant you are because it has nothing to do with my reply at all.
I'm going to feel like a broken record but the plot and script direction isn't there yet if you compare it to…
I don't know if you know this, but you can love Chang'an without coming to Novoland's page to shit on it. Hijacking viewers' comment praising Novoland to praise a completely unrelated drama and talk negatively about Novoland is a DICK move. I don't know who taught you manners, but do better. Go away now
Oh boy, I had such a high expectation for this drama and they delivered in spades! A-list castings, extensive preparations that take years, and huge budget (rumored to be USD $72 Millions), Novoland expertly use these advantages as tools to weave a high quality storytelling. Plotlines were clear and easy to follow, sleek and steady directing, cinematography is A+, good pacing, costumes were beautiful, sets were elaborate and exquisitely detailed and action sequences were sleek and sophisticated. Y'all we have really been spoiled, this is a top-tier cinematic production all around. I've never seen a production at this level for a drama, not even for Ming Lan which I personally felt was exemplary. It's not an exaggeration to say this drama is in a league of its own. Everybody say thank you Linmon Pictures!
The drama did a good job in showing us Lu Guichen and Ji Ye's backstory and their aspirations & motivations. Unfortunately one opinion that I echo with many viewers is Yun Ran acts like a little spoiled brat and after a while it's annoying. As a girl who is supposed to be the female main lead, her character really isn't worth the title. Compare to Lu Guichen & Ji Ye who were given depth and layers, her character falls flat. She is neither compelling nor intriguing. It's not Song Zu Er's fault, she's beautiful and her acting was adorable. I think it's the writing of her character that's at fault.
Thankfully, the other female characters so far are better and more appealing. Gong Yuyi, the elegant State Preceptor (Maggie Jiang!!!) and Liu Guichen's female attendant Lady Su (Wang Ou aka Banruo from Nirvana in Fire 1!!!!!!) are both very interesting characters with mysterious background that make you sit up and take notice of them. I'm looking forward to see more Novoland!
Chinese dramas can be really cringy and difficult to watch when it comes to their dubbing of the actors' voices. However, illogical character development and illogical/simply uninteresting plots are abundant in both Chinese and Korean dramas so to single out these two points as to your dislike of Chinese dramas seemingly reeks of prejudice.
With that said, China produced so many historical dramas and so many of them end up being a disappointment but when they do produced a gem, they tend to be irrevocably brilliant eclipsing South Korea and Japan. For example, Nirvana in Fire and The Story of Ming Lan come to mind. I could not imagine a remake that could rival the original of these dramas but I'll be excited if there is ever one. The budget needed to produce a drama with quality of this level will probably already be a deterrent for most countries. China's drama industry is loaded with money and one great thing that comes from that is their costumes and sets for historical dramas are elaborate and sumptuous -- truly in a different league compare to Korean saeguk as Korea is understandably not as wealthy. For example, all the night scenes in Ming Lan were shot with thousands of candles illuminating the set instead of artificial lighting. So if we're gonna have a remake, I really hope the quality and magnitude of the production would be keep to the same standard as the original.
For the actors, since Zhao Li Ying is a huge star, I hope a Korean remake will also cast a mega popular actress with acting chops and charisma. However I could not think of a Korean actress in the same age range as Zhao Li Ying with her similar strings of successes. I'd probably go for Kim Tae-Ri because I think she's a brilliant actress. For the male lead, I heartily champion Kim Nam Gil! We already know he is an amazing actor, he's charismatic, looks beautiful in saeguk garb (his turn as Bidam in Queen Seondeok was legendary) and he's good with humor (The Fiery Priest) which matches perfectly with Gu Ting Ye's personality.
