You are judging the characters and their personalities here, and couldn´t undestand why they behave like that, but it was really simple, Pi was bullied in the past and he has self steem issues , Mork is a popular and rich guy who is love by everyone even tought he could be an selfcentered and rude guy because of that, he is patient and kind with Pi almost all the time.
And that is explained since the episode one, it was pretty obvious the interation between these two characters wasn´t gonna change. So i could understand if the drama showed any hints that this was going to take a diferent direction, but not. It was a really simple feel good drama and the intention was that, so i dont get why watch 12 episodes of almost an hour and then have the nerve to write something bad about a drama with characters well defined since the begining, and comparing with a drama like WBL where they use the "seme""uke""tsundere" dynamic, terms that are used in content directed to women generally, Yet i never saw a reference to those dynamics and terms in FUTS, they didnt even used the "husband""wifey" terms that some people find insulting.
For me this is the best BL drama of 2021 and i´ve watched a lot or at least the most popular ones (included Lovely Writer and ATOTS) , is a solid comedy bl, the script was okay, the acting is good so that means the directing is good too, there is no movie or series with a good acting and bad directing, both are conected, unless the cast included Meryl Streep. Is a feel good comedy since the begining til the end, that consistence is rare to see in dramas these days even in korean ones. The main characters have intersting personalites and they´re definitely not two dimensional, you can see their good and bad or flawed side, so when people said "GMMTV" ruined some character just sounds ridiculous to me because every character made mistakes and show humanity during the whole show, Pi being insecure, Mork being too insistent, Duean being inmature, Meen being naive. But it was cool to see that, there was no villain in this drama, even the guys of the fan club did good and bad actions. The only thing thing about this drama that break with the mood, was reading some comments here just wanting to hate this show, i mean guys if you just hate GMM just stop watching no one is forcing you to watch their shows your not even paying like you do with HBO, Netflix or Disney +
It´s like someone mixed Sotus, TharnType, 2moons and some other series from 2 years ago or more, and this was the result. Feels like something we all watched, ( and by "all" i mean people like me who watch BLs before they were mainstream haha). it has the same production mistakes that those dramas, clumsy acting, a bunch of secondary characters so lots of extra stories, extras acting ackward , uninteresting locations... and i can go on.
I don´t think this is about if the relationship is toxic or not, is about how consistent the story is, since episode 1 to episode 10 , they presented other characters and stories that seemed important, Like Aoey´s story that wasn´t really resolved. And the main story (Gene and sib story) was resolved but it was like "meh".
The first series is almost a disaster. Bad acting from Bright, blah characters, lack of chemistry and ridiculous…
Your comment isn´t mean just out of place if you didn´t like the series that´s cool but do us a favor and let it go, go watch something else. Is like if you hear a song of an artist and you dont like it, and then go to the last social media post of that artist and write all the reasons why the song was "bad", but then go to every new post of that singer and you put the same thing no matter if the artist release new songs and you didnt even hear it, is not a bad thing is not ilegal , is just out of place and annoying.
Personally there are some dramas i didn´t like the first season i wrote a comment explaining the things i didnt like and for curiosity i tried to wath the second season but i just dropped it, but no one forced me to watch it, so i just decide to let it go, and watch something else, not even write comments in the page of the second season, because is obvious that if a channel decide to make a new season of a show is becase there are fans waiting for it, so me as someone whi never liked that project just putting more disconfort comments is just disrepectful .
I´m sorry i like this drama but this is the worst episode, too much drama all over the place, and the pace OMG is getting more and more slow in every episode.
First Aoey´s live with more than 50,000 viewers??he is a new actor and the drama has not even finished yet.
Second, i dont get why Thai productions are obsessed with wealthy main characters almost like chaebols in korean dramas, but they act like middle class people whom really need to work under horrible companies and horrible people like Tum´s sister, IDK but that dont make sense to me.
IDK why developing the characters and showing their good and bad sides in previous episodes and then when they are in the middle of a problem of the do is CRY? and act in the most simple and predictable way? i am talking about Gene and Aoey.
This is suposed to be the climax of the story, the moment when they show how awful the industry can be with their own stars and let the main characters shine and showing how human and complex they are, not the secondary characters being like villans of cartoons and doing all the job.
Even tought the directors job here is superior of what he did with TT, changing genres throughout the drama is still something that he likes to do, but personally im not a fan, and could be be done in a smooth way.
I'm in the same bubble as you. So far, the show has been getting on my nerves due to the bad humour and annoying…
just drop it the humor is gonna be the same in the next episodes, because this is is a comedy drama, personally i like this sense of humor and characters but i feel the humor in this show and other thai dramas is not for everyone.
Mocking culture scene which many Indians find offensive and inappropriate exists:Non-Indians : Wow lol that was…
Well in the comment section on youtube looked like the other way around, lots of comments of Indians who find really funny and loved the scennes. I as a non Indian person just tought it was a reference to a Bollywood Movie
unpopular opinion but i lked the shippers, and i loved the fact that they´re outsiders so they don´t know whats exactly going on between Mork and Pi, and that´s why they twist all and dont even care about the truth.
Can't believe this show has the same rating as another on going bl show which romanticizes rape, yaoi tropes and…
Wow haha i like both shows, simply because i like dark stories like in History 4 and comedy dramas like FUTS, but the only thing in common is they are both bl, nothing else, Lovely writer could be more comparable with this show , both use comedy and sense of humor, both are thai productions, but LW is getting praised in Mydramalist meanwhile this show is getting low score, even tought in Youtube everyone is loving it.
I didn´t loved this first episode, the directing was weird (i mean what is this about?), the acting was unbalanced there were scenes where the main actors appear and the acting is ok, but on the other hand there were another scenes where some of the main actors and some the extras or supporting cast IDK interacted with each other, and the acting was not convincing (Thai productions need to learn that all the roles in a drama are important, so they need to cast actors or people who is familiarized with a camera for these small roles). The music they chose doesn´t fit most of the scenes, the editing is not the best, the series just jump from a situation to another that is not related, the pacing is slow but then turns fast.
Maybe i´m overanalyzing this drama, this is the first episode yet and is pretty obvious they had a low budget.
I feel that Gene and Aey characters are kind of similar, both come from wealthy families and probably that is why at times they act like spoiled children, both have insecure personalities The big diference is that gene avoids atencion and drama, and Aey looks like he enjoys it.
Why is it that I’ve seen majority of bad reviews for this drama but its still highly ranked in best Thai BLs?
I think i know why, i would call it the "2gether effect".
Las year was a good year for BL dramas some of them became really popular, and brought a bunch of new people ( including people who watched asian dramas, but just other genres or from other countries), expecting to see "proper stories". (because of how 2gether ends, a lot of people didn´t like or hate the ending, i dont include myself).
So thats why a lot of the reviews with the low raitings are from 2020 after 2gether ends. and are by some users who now just watch and review BL.
Back in 2018- 2019 there were few bl dramas, included TharnType. Because the number of people who like these genre was not huge, like now. But we all knew these stories were based on novels, most fo them from a female perspective, kinda unrealistic like korean comedy/romance dramas.
Now a lot of people around here expect BL to be realistic, with heavy issues handled like in recent Holywood productions, without being "problematic", ignoring were BL comes from, and how how society works in countries like Thailand, and are really different, (human rights, LGBT, Morality, values).
Just because you like guys, doesnt meant your whole personality should be in a certain way. I like Wayu´s character , he is kind, naive, not afraid of showing his emotions. Probably for some people he is just weak, but what is wrong with being vulnerable?, liking some one new, and suffering again. The phrase "If you don´t love yourself, how can you love someone else" sounds good but is not that easy in practice.
