for the people who didnt like this and didnt read the webtoon, might as well just read the webtoon and its prequel shotgun boy. the webtoon is essentially season 1 but the character focus is different, some characters arent even in the webtoon, ji-su is the fl, eun-yu doesnt really have that much of a role though.

shotgun boy is very different as it takes places the night the whole monster thing started with a lot of world building and making the story kinda confusing. still loved it though.

read the webtoon, but didnt watch the show, only the ending to comapre. the webtoon is similar, but way better and not that much of a waste of time it seems. it starts off with the survivors back in school with their other classmates who either left, backed out, or got kicked out, with obvious tension between everyone. then it goes to a flash back of the massacre in the school, not really a massacre though, since only 3 people died, 4 including honors lee (the shooter). the reason for the massacre was probably because they might find out he killed kwon, (we even see him hallucinate about killing them because of it, he also hallucinates kwon) nara kills honors though and the teacher wants them to cover it up by saying it was a cell (So they dont lose their extra points) they gather up the dead bodies and it ends with them lighting them on fire using the grenade launcher. (though were not shown this, just implied by a click and then the end)

so no, there isnt a bullshit ''they invented a weapon and cleared out all the cells yippee!!'' it ends a bit darker honestly, but still feels way more satisfying (because most of the characters u care about are still alive instead of being massacred)

idk why ppl dont like this, mayb bcuz i didnt have much expectations other than a fun watch? idk, this was a fun crackpot show i binged with amazing leads 8.3/10

if yall want a show like this but (in my opinion, better) u should try ''left on read" (it literally made me cry once) the episodes are the usual length but can drag on from time to time, but i literally love it so much. the fl is a way better but more bitchy and loner type yoon-seo...and guess what, theres a proper ending (a whole episode actually)

if this gets a season 2 i'd be disappointed if it was the same setting (as we end with yoon-seo in the same bus) bcuz we literally see (possibly the first game) starting with them in school in their classroom so it would be cool if we saw them in different settings cuz if we get another 12 episodes of the same location id just be too tired for it

this is why i didnt know what they'd do for a season 2 as it was pretty open and shut, the only things they could possibly do for an interesting season 2 was to switch up something with the mafia game

im pretty sure the last time we hear or see ANYTHING abt his backstory was in the episode he was revived.

honestly, jun hee couldve been a lot with what we just had, he has the leader type role, he has the dead friend, he has him accidentally killing like 10 students, he has the fact he nearly offed himself (which he resolved by himself in like 1 minute) and theres the fact he's close with so-mi...he had so much interesting stuff why is he literally just a cardboard cutout

they prolly just blank out until the next game, remember that they only woke up yoon-seo purely because they needed to fix jong-won

yall are gonna roast me for this but jun-hee should've stayed dead after sacrificing himself. it wouldve been unexpected since we all thought he was gonna be the male lead. and him coming back had almost 0 significance to the plot. the only plot relevance he had was so-mi turning more insane, helping na-hee, and ALMOST killing da-beom (Which wouldve been really cool if he did, but like everything else about his character, was a missed opportunity)

the ending was somewhat predictable but i didnt expect how they'd do it....i honestly hate cliffhanger season endings bcuz u never know if they'll even renew the series...so lets just hope this gets a season 2...i really loved this season up until episode 11 and 12...

i genuinely dont know how i think they'll do a season 2 since we literally already know everything, considering the bull shit rules cant yoon-seo just get jung-won killed on the first day? and honestly the only way i can see a good season 2 if they completely focused on the mafia game aspect with characters doing smart shit this time because watching stupid characters one time is entertaining but seeing them do stupid shit a second time after seeing the first time doesnt seem enjoyable. this is honestly just me but if there was a season 2 it would be cool if yoon-seo became a mafia in the 2nd season and the mafias from the previous game are the last 6 citizen players in the last game (if that makes sense) meaning the mafia in season 2 would be yoon-seo, jun-hee, eun chan, mi-na, na-hee, yeon-woo, but honestly thats just wishful thinking cuz i doubt the writers could do anything cool like that

honestly....yoon seo and jun hee had makings to be interesting characters in the first half of the episodes...

For yoon seo we had her connection to se eun and ghostly paranormal stuff, we got her deduction skills and being one of the if not calmest person in the group

for jun hee, we had him take up a leadership role in the first few episodes, we had a scene where he almost walked out of the boundaries bcuz of his guilt, and him sacrificing himself for yoon seo

so for me, this is how i wouldve used the main characters

keep yoon seo in the spot light and dont just side line her. make use of her deduction skills and let her find out more about the game with the paranormal stuff. we couldve even had a thing where she slowly started to figure out jungwon as a mafia.

as for jun hee, instead of making him disappear, i feel like they couldve done a thing for him and yoon seo's romance where jun hee is so guilty that he breaks and just goes blank, making yoon seo and maybe even so mi to try to cheer him up and get him back as a leader...instead, they just sidelined both mcs when the mafia were all revealed...

for ur 2nd thing abt killing 1 person at night, im pretty sure jungwon might be different since shes a mafia (and possibly special) the thing is we havent seen mi-na or the other one who died at all in the trailer, could it be hiding for a twist? maybe. but jungwon's case might be different as shes a mafia and were not sure of mafia killing another mafia (since on the first night the mafia didnt kill another mafia)

as for the ending, it feels like its going through an alice in borderland situation as they could possibly be dead/dying (As seen by the bus hidden in the bushes in ep1) and theyre just stuck in a time thingy since yk, the birds and fishermen were stuck in place.
