this brings me back to the good old days of Liar game (Japanese version).
I like that they showed that the players and their loved one have realistic human “flaws”. the detective and his wife already had their communication broken down. seems like his wife has been coping on her own trying to be considerate of her husband’s busy work schedule. so she would not have “troubled” when she felt someone following her, she was doubting her gut feeling too.
the detective seems to have prioritised his work over his wife as a norm and since she has spoken to him on the phone, he would have dismissed his wife text as she sounded “alright”.
as for the doctor.. he was already overwhelmed with guilt towards his family and the same time feel severely inadequate his workplace for having ptsd for surgeries.. so when he received the work call he was in an overwhelmed state .. and he “assumed” the waiting is “safe” because there are so many people around to “witness”.
seems like each character’s “flaws” were targeted and calculated almost like an F U from the kidnapper saying if you don’t cherish or pay attention to them is this your lesson.
are they trying to be wingman in a twisted way.. ?

yes! when he burn the items, he was doing what she did with his treason evidence. the beauty of how they portrayed this is that no words need to be spoken and they still understood each other.
it’s a mutual agreement that they will have each other’s back from the moment they destroyed the evidence in fire.
if she were to admit she is Shen Jia lan. It will make everyone in the Lin family be in a difficult position to face the crime that they did to her family. and it will also be a crime to lie about her identity to the emperor who gave a royal edict for their marriage.
she is being considerate to the lin family who was once people whom she had hatred against and had to hide her identity to keep herself safe vs now.. she hides her identity because she came to care for the lin family.

I think that’s part of the plan to ruin the reputation of the Lin family. coz it’s the sis who seems to have curated the meeting with the poor lamb.
my theories: I thought he was going to “take responsibility” by forcing their marriage since Du sis failed to seduce Lin Jin Qi. so they try to marry him instead?
something along the lines of the wo country trying to plant them as spies into the Lin household….
so since that also failed they went to Plan c to destroy them. Du sis mentioned about ambition, so it could be some bigger higher ups somewhere.
I very much enjoyed the WEBTOON! looking forward and yet at the same time trying to lower my expectations if they were to make changes. bonus that LJS my fav actor is here! fellow casts are wonderful actors too.. cross fingers that all is well for the production team
