The Crown Was Beautiful, But the Romance Was Everything
Perfect Crown reminded me why rom-coms became so loved in the first place. Was it cheesy and cringe at times? Absolutely. But the tropes were executed so well that it never felt tiring or overly cliché. The drama had its own charm and uniqueness that made it genuinely entertaining.
The first half was especially strong for me — the character introductions, the humor, and especially Grand Prince Ian and Hui Ju’s first meeting at the little king’s banquet. That scene alone was unforgettable. Byeon Wooseok truly embodied a regal prince, while IU balanced Hui Ju’s strong personality with so much softness and vulnerability underneath.
What I loved most was that the drama fully embraced being a ROMCOM. The romance between Hui Ju and Ian was clearly the heart of the story, and honestly, that’s what made it work for me. I was way more invested in their relationship than the palace politics. Their chemistry was magnetic, natural, and one of the strongest pairings I’ve seen in recent years.
Was the drama perfect? No. But was it fun, heartwarming, addictive, and worth watching? Absolutely. The ending was satisfying, the cast had amazing chemistry, and the drama gave us so many memorable romantic moments. I’m honestly glad I didn’t rely on the negative reviews because I would’ve missed out on such an enjoyable gem. Definitely a drama i’d rewatch.
PM is such an idiot. I love how he is getting served right infront of his face with the declarations of love from Hui Ju. You had no chance ever since the start. Time to pack it up!!!
Also I don't think they'll divorce. They will be 'about to divorce' but that will backfire and they'd stick tgt instead.
Finally caught up with the latest episode. This has been entertaining so far. I love the chemistry between the leads. I thought IU best chem was with Bogum but this made me change my mind.
It depends. I’m rewatching it and it’s weirdly more enjoyable than the first time but I’m a fan so maybe…
That helps a lot, thanks! I usually prioritize plot, so if the overall story is weak and the ending is an issue, I think I’ll skip this one for now. Appreciate the honest breakdown though.
Honestly, this drama completely blew me away 😭 Tantai Jin’s love for Li Susu is just… everything. The way he cares for her, fights for her, and carries all that heartache—it’s heartbreaking and beautiful all at once. I was completely invested in him and his devotion from start to finish.
Bai Lu was amazing as Li Susu. She’s strong, emotional, and completely believable, and her chemistry with Luo Yunxi made every scene between them feel electric. I was totally hooked on their romance—it hit all the right notes of longing, tenderness, and heartbreak.
The worldbuilding, costumes, and visuals are gorgeous and really draw you in. Sure, there are a few slow moments here and there, but honestly, I didn’t care—I was too caught up in the love, the story, and the emotions.
