LOVE HEALS
Such a lovely story of human interaction that makes one either contracting allergies or be healed. The story of Kim Min Gyu was a lonely one. His allergy towards people started when his trust was betrayed by his close friend. And it grew beyond other people as he does not see anyone can be trusted. But as he opened up his heart with Aji 3 and found a friend in her, he slowly healed.
The story is quite unique in a sense that though it is fiction, it brought about the need for human connections. What makes it fantasy are:
1. A robot that can act and speak like a human (though we know she is really human)
2. The allergy did not flare up, as Min Gyu thought of her as a robot and not human
3. The advancement of technology to make a robot that can fully integrate human emotions.
What clicks here is that both Min Gyu and Ji ah need each other. It was not just Min Gyu who needs her, but Ji Ah needs him also. His comforting words and love for her work, though he didn't know yet that she is the creator, gave her confidence to start her own business.
Both Yoo Seung Ho and Cha Soo Bin are in their early 20s when they starred in this drama. And they gave a believable performance of a CEO who tried to avoid human contact and an aspiring inventor in need of money. What is endearing in this drama are the people surrounding the CEO who have come to be like family - The Santa Maria team. They may be nerds, but their quirkiness and sometimes comedic dialogues have added to the beauty of the drama. The scientists are also instruments to his journey of healing though we know that him learning to trust Ji Ah and loving her as a person who would not take advantage of him is the cure.
Speaking of wardrobe, I love how they dressed Kim Min Gyu, it shows elegance and befitting of a boss. Seung Ho and Soo Bin do not seem to look any older in 2026, but you can still see how young they were in this drama. Both had exuded that youthful look, but also that young love conquering every challenge that comes along. If there is any character with the biggest transformation, that would be Kim Min Gyu - from a man not trusting anyone, to learning to overcome distrust/mistrust and eventually trusting the one he loves. Ji Ah had her own transformation, that she learned to gain confidence and plan for her future business.
You can say I am a hopeless romantic. Though they started off as a human and robot interaction, in the end, it is still human to human that makes the relationship work.
