Hi there!! I need suggestion as to continue to watch this drama as I am already in ep 5. I am finding the FL very…
Hi ! This drama is quite decent, but it's not a masterpiece in my opinion. The FL uses this disguise for many reasons : hiding her identity, try life as a commoner relying only on herself, prove that she can do anything and enjoy life even with ordinary looks... I find personally that the FL is way too perfect, she has a perfect balanced personnality and top level IQ/EQ/morals/looks/wisdom/strength... Overall Amy Sun does a fantastic job acting the FL (for a cdrama).
I just can't with this drama. I tried watching it twice but I can't get over the ML breaking the FL's wedding…
Where did you stop watching ? She doesn't fall in love immediately, and at first she does not even know what he did. And he did not in fact broke her wedding, it's a bit childish to think that (and the characters are childish and like to blame someone/themselves because it's a drama) and it's just a plot device. This drama is in my top 10 no matter how I rank it (I watched a few hundred dramas). If you can get over some light plot devices like this, the acting, realisation, sound, scriptwriting... everything is top level.
Uhh, I really can't stand the female lead, if she wasn't happy with her boyfriend of four years she should have…
Although I'm not an expert on the subject, I've been to Japan and SK is somewhat similar on many social interactions. People there have difficulty being honest (speaking frankly) when there is a disagreement. They try to avoid conflict, to save face for everyone, they keep their dissenting opinion to themselves... Especially women because they are still in a somewhat inferior position socially. So the behavior of the FL not being clear cut enough when breaking up is understandable. However in retrospect she should realize that all this tiptoieng, ghosting and hesitation was really just hurting everyone and being and more open and assertive was better. In the drama she seems to be sorry towards her ex that she couldn't make her relationship work with him and that she broke up suddenly to get with another guy. As a man living in europe I would have no pb with these two parts, it's part of life. But the false hope she gives, her unclear intentions and words, the double talk (she says her relationship is okay to some people when she is in fact breaking up), the dragging would not be forgivable.
Then there is the emotional aspect, the FL is somewhat branch hopping (switching bf), and in some aspect one could interpret her behavior as waiting to secure her new relationship before terminating the old one.
Any normal person undestands that to convince his past self one should send a message himself to his past self…
That made me pause the drama for a week because it's just too much nonsense concentrated on this single (and most important) issue. I watched up to 5 eps and the show is very good with a lot of suspense, but the plot holes seem to creep up more and more so I'm a bit worried...
I don't personally think the acting is over the top, especially if you've ever seen first hand how a parent reacts…
I think you're right about that ! I'm lucky enough to not have witnessed a parent that just lost their child. On that side the acting was extreme and very good, and as you said realistic. The makup was also extreme in scenes of grief (maybe too much ?). But I think the director wants the actors to overact in general because my comment was not specially directed at these scenes. The ML is like extremely cold at the beginning, and every actor puts a lot of emphasis on some personnality traits with strong facial expressions and physical attitudes. That gives the drama a special style (like some jdrama), it's not bad.
Good acting (if a bit over the top) ! But the plot is a mess, the ML should provide everything so that the FL…
Any normal person undestands that to convince his past self one should send a message himself to his past self : be it photos of him and a handwritten letter, an explanatory video...
Good acting (if a bit over the top) ! But the plot is a mess, the ML should provide everything so that the FL can establish contact with him and gain his trust... It's unrealistic that he doesn't send her detailed instructions. That's his personnality since he usually wants to do everything by himself and perfectly, and the success is so important, plus the FL failed the first time... The character's actions are often not consistent with their personnality (both FL and ML presented as very diligent and conscientious), and even the extreme stress cannot explain it easily.
But the problem is our male lead looks a lot older and like a grandpa. That is what people are having an issue…
The actor is 50 and the actress is 29. The 21 years of difference is huge but they are both fully grown adults and the ML cannot be the FL's grandfather with this age gap (you would have to add another 10 years). Sure the FL looks young for a 29 years old woman (well she's an actress) and the ML doesn't have delicate handsome features but he is manly and well kept. The French President has a wife 24 years older than him, and although that is cringy to me because she has daughters his age, it is reality.
The drama is really fun. It's a good story and script although it's not very original. The main leads have great acting for a cdrama and I love them both as actors.
But I have a hard time accepting the ML because he is too young, he is clearly younger than the FL although he should be older according to the story. He just looks like a an adolescent kid. The FL also looks young for her age but she still looks like a woman. It's like watching a noona romance. I'm okay with that (I absolutely love "I hear your voice") but somehow I think it's a miscast here. It won't stop me from enjoying the show though :)
Where r u guys able to watch it with eng subs ? Can't seem to find it anywhere ?
On youtube : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YXG8n0OK8xg. You activate the subtitles (select indonesian for instance) then you go to params -> subtitles -> auto-translate -> english.
Really cant wait for this.. I only hope that this drama will has a happy ending.. Sometimes an anti-hero is so…
I'm also impatient, I really like the lead couple. Usually there is no happy ending with a show like this. I also want a good closure, but come on the ML is something like a serial killer. We can't hope his wife to love him after she has been betrayed and she had to throw him in prison, or can we ? There is a romance tag atfer all...
I like the drama so far, but isn't the scriptwriting really weak ? There are many repetitions of face to face scenes between the leads. Okay they are beautiful but it looks like fillers when you do it too much. The show ought to rely on a good script and good acting. Cinematographic effects and the like are just props. You can't sustain a show with that.
Many plot holes and other things don't make sense (a healthcare pro or any family member won't let his severely autistic brother alone in a crowded place, even if it's to stand a few dozen meters away. Anyway the ML already exchanged looks with the FL so there is no point in avoiding her further at this event...).
Why move every year ? To avoid butterflies ? Makes no sense to me. If you understood let me know.
The ML is so concerned about his big brother, to the point of not caring about his own personnal life. But trying to cure his brother's heavy PTSD didn't cross his mind sooner ? He has been working in psychiatric hospitals for so long and with his brother's situation, he already knows who's who in the field of psychiatry... The ML should already know very well the number 1 PTSD expert in Korea...
These are just details but considering the good points and originality of the show, I want it to be successful and entertaining until the end.
Lots of potential ! I loved the first episode. Well produced, image and sound both.
I'm not a fan of the lead couple as actors though (I saw some Kim Soo Hyun dramas, wasn't that impressed. Seo Ye Ji, I didn't see any main role of her), but I must admit they look amazing ! I'm a bit afraid more expressive actors in this drama could steal the limelight from the main couple. I can't help but compare this drama to It's Okay That's Love where the leads are among my favorite actors.
I am amazed by the music and the quality of the production. The cast is also very well selected, the acting on point. Dinner Mate is one of the best surprises of 2020 so far and it's like a mix of Crash Landing on You and Another Miss Oh.
The show is becoming more and more serious (even dark) with this week's episodes (7&8/16). It is also very well done and captivating but there is a tradeoff. The atmosphere changes because of the dark plot. The gags/fun parts are less and of a different nature. I hope the dark part stays at this level or recedes a bit to preserve the unique elements of this show : comedy, food and dialogues.
How can this show have a rating of only 8.5 ?! It is a gem in dramaland, such a good comedy with bits of seriousness and life philosophy. The show takes its time and the execution is flawless. It makes me laugh so much, and the actors are all so adorable (yes even the exes). I absolutely love it. I hope the show can keep this balance between fun and seriousness, and keep making the viewers smile and laugh and giggle :)
Fantastic acting from the leads and especially Jung So Min, she gives me the same feeling I get when confronted with irrational behavior in reality. Very impressive !
I find personally that the FL is way too perfect, she has a perfect balanced personnality and top level IQ/EQ/morals/looks/wisdom/strength...
