Is the magic of Sotus over? :(
The revival of Krist and Singto given Singto’s return to GMMTV is much-anticipated, and for good reason, since it’s been a long time since the Sotus era.
The Ex Morning may be an ex-boyfriends-rekindle-their-love type of story but it’s way less toxic than it actually seems. Even though we already know how their story will end, the romantic trajectory was still largely enjoyable.
Some scenes in the show are exaggerated so the style felt a bit over the top and soap drama-ish at times. The writing also left me a little confused and disappointed. The enemies-to-bfs trope generally works across various plots, but in this case, the reason for their initial breakup was rather weak and had logical gaps that didn’t make sense.
The story is mostly carried by the rekindling romance of Phi and Tam in a different stage of their life as they try to develop their careers and professional strengths.
And while this is a welcome change from high school storylines, I would like to see Kris in a wider range of roles and types of stories. Kris’ characters end up being rather similar to each other (in terms of goofiness/silliness) so the dynamic gets predictable.
Verdict: In summary, Krist and Singto still got it. But maybe I was expecting too much from this revival.
